I recently bought a q6600 [b3] on a p5k asus and thermaltake big typhoon VX (I originally got ultra 120 extreme, but it woudnt fit in my xclio a380 case).
Anyway, I have had an absolute nightmare installing the damn thing. The plastic clips it uses never seem tight to me, and when some of them do, the rest of them don't. They tend to pop out easily, they are hard to access and twist, and I m also afraid I might damage the cooler permanently (already installed and uninstalled 3 times) If I keep at this rate.
I managed on my last try to get idle temps of about 38c cpu (cores vary at around 40-46c). I took an orthos test and have seen something very very odd. two cores full load are at 50 and 52c and the other two at 70 and 71c.
Is that much of difference normal ? Or indicative of (yet one more) error in installing either the cooler or the paste or both ?
The orthos tests were made at 3ghz o/c speed.
Also, as paste, I used the white one that came with the big typhoon vx, didnt purchase my AS5 yet, I ll do so on monday.
Anyone willing to help, and even better post some screenshots, or give guidance on how to properly install the damn thing. I m fed up with it :S
EDIT : After 5 hours of orthos, core temps are : 50 - 56 - 70 - 70. Full load on all four cores, stock voltage, 3ghz speed.
