I have a MSI k8t neo-fsr socket 757 motherboard. Do I have to remove my motherboard and remove that back plate? I think its called the retention plate.

If I do, how in the world do I remove it without damaging the mobo? Its glued on !

any suggestions, I really dont want to half ass this installation
 
In answer to the first part of your question, yes you do have to remove it and install the new backplate! On how to remove your current one, no idea!
 
warm up the glue a bit (hairdryer perhaps?) and then try prying it off a little at a time.
