Thermalright, worth it?

I plan on buying an abit ic7-g maxII advance and a p4 2.8c... im looking at heatsinks and reading reviews. i really want to go with the thermalright/vantec tornado combo but ive heard people talk about how the thermalright can mess up your p4 socket and you have do a lot of work to install it. if anyone has any other suggestions or any helpful tips, or pics for this, please respond.

also, how well do you think it would run with a basic coolermaster led fan that runs at like 2200rpm or something? i just want temps below like 35c - 40c
 
The tornado fan should give you that temp.
But you will be saying... "What? What? Speak up... WHAT???"
they are pretty loud.

It may mess up your socket if you move your case alot, it's a pretty heavy heatsink, but it cools pretty damn well.
 
I have the exact same Mb and hsf you are thinking of getting. only difference is i have the p4 3.0, installing it? If you are comfortable working inside a computer and removing the stock p4 hsf brackets than its not too bad really. Just be carefull when you are removing those brackets i had one that was really hard to pop the pin out on, patience over brute force is all you need to remember. But yea if you move your board around alot as long as its attached to the case its fine but if you remove the mb id take that hsf off. It carrys enough weight to bend the board a little if you pick it up wrong. Other than that it cools great, i put a panaflow 90mm fan on mine though, tornados are too loud for my tastes
 
I got one and I idle @ 42 with a slight overclock. not impressing me, but it was such a pain in the ass to install I didnt want to take it off
