I got this heatsink and the stock Fan:

Maker: DELTA
Model: AFB04512HA
Size: 45 x 45 x 10 (mm)
Bearing: Dual Ball Bearing System
Voltage: 12V
Speed: 6000 rpm
Air Flow: 11.80 CFM
Noise Level: 34dBA

This fan is pretty damn loud. My pc was considerably quiet until I got this fan in. Is there any other nice fans out there this size for the NB-1's?
 
couple options i can think of. well one im sure youd be fine running that heatsink passively especially if your only running 200 fsb and had good case air flow. fan demension is 45mm x 45mm, its possible that you could fit a 40mm x 40mm fan on the thing.

How bout connecting the fan to a fan controller or devolting it?

If you're not OC-ing much, why not just use the NB-1 passively and ditch the fan completely? It should still outperform most stock NB coolers and you'll get your silence. :D
 
Are you sure this would work without the fan? I have the chipset volt set to 1.70 so my system is stable. I think from 1.8 to 2.5ghz is a pretty high OC. I once unpluged the fan to my NB-1 and everything still worked but the mouse would freeze and restarting the computer with windows would hang.

Could you help me about how to devolt my fan? Also is there anyything I can use to monitor the temps on my NB?

several different ways. for example, any compatible fan controller, some by zalman, or even a simple switch.

a simple temp probe taped to the back of the board right behind the chipset chip would be the most accurate way i can think of. some fan controllers also have thermal monitoring on LCDs like cooler masters aerogate2. so you could under-volt your fans and monitor various temp through out your case. cheaper solutions can be found.
 
Thanks for the knowledge, however, I don't like a messy pc and doing this would add more wires all over the place so I dunno what I'm gonna do. Either live with the noise or find another once I get some money. Thanks agian

i can understand that, i like to keep a clean case aswell. for under-volting your fan and keeping the wire clutter to a minimum id suggest either a zalman fanmate which you could stick in an open spot on your motherboard like seen here with some double-sided sticky foam tape you could find at your local all-in-one store, or if your not solder-shy you could do something like this zalman rc56 "noiseless connector" at the top of the page. as for the temp probe you could just run the wire out of eyes view to your controller/monitor.
 
damn that one silent pc link is elite. I am really going to put this into consideration. As soon as I have time then I will get it together. Wow!
