RealWorld Labs has posted a review of the Thermalright Archon CPU cooler today for your viewing pleasure. You can see our evaluation from back in December here for comparison purposes.

Thermalright is an elite design house that manufactures cooling products for computer components for the best quality and performance your money can buy. In 2002, AMD released its first generation Thunderbird CPU and since then we have been there every step of the way to counter high voltage and high heat with innovative design and highly acclaimed cooling solutions not only for AMD but for Intel as well.

I just tried putting one of these in my FT02 with all 4 DIMMS full on my P67 Sabertooth...it did not fit. :(

Though with the AP's blowing right into it, and placing the fan on a "pull" side instead, still getting good temps.

806g without fan/clips, whoa. Looks like a solid performer though; it would be nice to see Thermalright experiment a bit more with their designs, but I guess if it ain't broke...

Hmm... so the Archon fits in a FT02? Interesting, specs would indicate otherwise...

I was expecting a sphere with a fan in the middle that pulses blue.... Slight disappointment

yea, if you mean height-wise, it clears. Though I have a window, so that might be the difference.

Yep, meant height-wise. I've got a window myself and wasn't sure if it would fit and did not want to take the risk. It's good to know it does indeed fit, may pick one up in the near future!

I am interested to see if they release a limited all copper version like they did with the TRUE. I would buy that for $125.

Would this fit an Antec 900? The current cooler CM Hyper 212+ is about 1/4 inch from the side panel. And this is bigger.

Hyper 212 Plus Height: 158.5mm
TR Archon Height: 170.25mm

12 millimeters = 0.472440945 inches

I say not it wont fit. Also google is fun

I was considering both the Thermalright Archon and the Thermalright Silver Arrow, ended up going with Silver Arrow because I wasn't sure if Archon would fit height-wise into my windowless FT02. According to the Thermalright site, Silver Arrow is 4-5mm shorter than the Archon and on mine the heat pipe caps are actually touching the sound insulation foam inside the case side panel.

Is your Archon touching the window or making the side panel bulge?

The fins on the Silver Arrow clear all four of my G.Skill Ripjaws X on Asus P8P67 Deluxe mobo, but I can't use the TY-140 fan in push config, since it either bumps into the RAM heat spreaders or the inside of the case side panel.

How tall is your RAM?

I think TY-140 fans are louder as pull fans than as push fans. In a pull config, the fan blades are spinning right on top of the heat sink fins, while in a push config there's about 3-4mm of space between the blades and the fins due to the fan frame.

Did you notice if the Archon fan is louder in a pull config than in a push config?
