Thermal Sensor Under AMD Chip

Hi,

Several months back I was putting in my aerogate 2 when I noticed in the instructions (yes I know I shouldn't have looked) that they recommend you mount the thermal sensor under the chip and route the wires between the prongs. At first I didn't do this since it didn't sound like a good idea. A while after this I was unhappy with my CPU temp as it was always at least 7 degrees C lower then the bios temp. I am going to be putting in a pelt setup and I am wondering if I should leave it in or remove it. I haven't heard of other people putting the sensor in this location but it may prevent the chip from seatting completely flat. Is there another location that people have used with good results that is not so obstructive? I am not having problems with it now but once I have the pelt installed I don't want to have to rip the setup apart a whole lot more.

From most of the posts and articles i've read concerning that, people usually take a dremel and cut a notch in the ZIF socket just deep enough for the wire from the sensor to sit in so that the processor still rests flat on it. The only other way to do it would be to place the sensor as close to the die as possible without actually being on top of it.
