Just wondering, how bad is the thermal pad that comes pre-applied on heatsinks compared to AS5. Building a system for a friend, he won't be OCing much if at all and wanted to know if it was even worth my time. It's an Freezer 64 Pro.

Arctic Cooling's thermal pads are actually very good. Reviews have shown that it performs almost on-par with AS5. I would use it.

Alright, I've decide to anyway. Thanks for the input. What I would like to know now though, is how would I go about preventing overflow? When I apply paste myself, I know just how much to use, but with the thermal pad, I'm assumiing it will expand and run over the edge of the processor. And how would I clean it up if it does?

There will be overflow, but it shouldn't be too bad. The compound itself isn't conductive or capacitive, so there's no worry there.
