Hey I just received my Xigmatek HDT S1283 cooler and installed it, the temps were improved when i first installed it but i thought i could do better so i re-installed it, but the temp when from good to bad, I reinstalled this dam thing 4 times now and my temps were never as good as the first install so i think I'm no applying the thermal past correctly I'm using 70% isopropyl for cleaning and Zalman Super Grease, so can anyone please help me, right now this cooler is getting close to stock cooler temps :(

:CPU= E8400

How are you applying the zalman thermal grease? Are you sure that you're cooler is properly mounted?

Here is what I did with mine....I put a thin layer spread on the cpu, then I filled in the slots between the heat pipes with more thermal paste. I just made sure every little gap in it was filled with paste...I don't see temps higher then 44c at full load on my Q6600. :)

I have the S1283.. I just put a small dot in the center of the CPU's IHS. That's it. Temps are 20c lower that with the stock HSF.

YES!!! Thank you BlueFireIce your link gave me a 10 oC improvement from last time, the temps only hit 71oC MAX on IBT unlike the last pass at 79oC MAX IBT, but the thing is I used the last the the Zalman Super Grease and it did not apply as well as instructed do to the face the bottle has a brush, so here is my next plea i need to get some more and better thermal grease but all the thermal grease reviews i find on the net are like written in the 05-06 erra and I also can't find were they hide them on Newegg Canada, so and suggestions or links to modern reviews plus maybe were Newegg hides there thermal grease stash.

Thanks, -Kato

wow, smack me across my n00b face, I think I will get some of that AS5 MX2, thanks a mill

I used the guide that Blue suggested when I did mine and it gives me pretty decent temps considering my case airflow is not the greatest. Another thing I tried is having the fan blowing up. I thought up would do more for my system since the central heat pipe would lay directly across my cores but it didn't make a damn bit of difference so I just switched it back to blow strait out the back.
