in my personal experience... my mx-2 performed better than my as5 on my CPU and GPU.

IC Diamond 7 beats AS5 in my books.YMMV of course.I dont know of anyone locally that sells MX-2 yet.NCIX was supposed to get some in a good month ago,but no news yet.

AS5 has been the only one that I really trust. They've consistently performed strongly through the years, and even if they aren't always the best, you can be damn sure it will do good enough for most of your needs.

I would try others, I'm open to anything, but AS5 has always been strong.

AS5 and Ceramique have always been good, but MX-2 now beats them. I always liked Ceramique because it is non-conductive, but MX-2 is also, and MX-2 requires no curing time and according to AC will last for 8 years.

On all of my PC's (CPU's, GPU's, chipsets) I've replaced the stock paste or Ceramique with MX-2 and have had temp reductions on them all. The nice thing is I won't have to do it again for many years unless I change HSF's.

What's not to like?

I wish somebody would actually do a proper review of the Circuit Works silver conductive grease.

I used it quite a while back, and if you actually leave it on there long enough, it will melt into a solid layer of silver. I had to scrape it off the core when I changed the heatsink.

It is pricey, but I would think that a solid layer of silver that fills in all the gaps would give better thermal conductivity than stuff that stays pasty.

I used the stuff in a tube, but you can get it in a little round container as well.

I would love to try different thermal compounds, but AS5 has worked for me in the past and present, Thermalright Ultra 120 w/ AS5, my E6550 @ 3.2Ghz runs at 20c all day.

I know this was not part of the review but I am now using shin etsu x-23 on my chipset and qx6700 and temps are 3-4 degrees lower than as5.

I always liked Ceramique because it is non-conductive, but MX-2 is also, and MX-2 requires no curing time and according to AC will last for 8 years.

This is another reason I use IC D7 as its also non conductive and helped lower the temps on my GTS 640.
