• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

There should be more mods

I think there should be more mods, quite frankly, I am getting a bit ticked.

Every day, I browse the forums, and, it is like, everywhere, non stop flame war. It gets a bit old.

Is there any chance that we can get some more mods? Like 20 of them? It gets old, I am tired of the fighting and flaming and topics going off topic, I find myself spending less time browsing and posting because of the immature behavior of a lot of other members.

Kyle, do something?

So would I, I do it on other sites, but, it is not for my to decide.

I have seen a lot of mods in the past abuse thier powers, I will not list names.

I just think we need more control, I feel like I am in my house at night while people are running thru my back yard avoiding the police:eek:

Currently we have 30 Moderators, 6 Super-Mods, 5 active Admins and Kyle who are policing the forums presently. Even with this amount of coverage, we still can't be everywhere all of the time. The added exposure we are getting from the front page and Hypothermia, not to mention the press Kyle has drawn from the Doom 3 article has attracted about 3000 new members within the last month alone. We are weeding out some troublemakers, but it is a slow process. I would be interested to know exactly what forums are the source of your concern........

Ok, gimme your aim addy, everytime I see something in question, I will IM it to you. I see a lot of it and would love to reach thru to the other end and smack a lot of them. Most of them are noobies...

I rarely use IM now, just shoot a PM to any admin or just punch up the 'Report a thread' button and the problem will be taken care of almost immediately. The 'Report a thread' button sends the alert to the moderator of that forum and also to all Admin personnel

Ok, I will try that out, next time I get irratated by it, I hope you have a HUGE inbox....

Yeah, things have gotten wacky lately, especially with the goat-se spam. I think it'll die down somewhat after the Doom 3 hype wears off, among other things.

!!!!!! spam? my word im glad i've been busy lately.

Yeah it's actually getting on my nerves too and I have to check myself before yelling at people.

edit: !!!!!! is edited from the goat? weird

 You werent here when the old genmay was a frequest target of SA huh? Oh noh! NOT GOAT_SE!!!!!!!!!!! Cmon kids get over it already. SA used to PLASTER the board with that shit on weekends. You could go through a thread without the gaping asshole of death greeting you

As Major mentioned, we do have a lot of mods here, but no one can be everywhere at once. There's also an icon you can click on at the lower left of posts that lets you report stuff

Um, yeah I do remember that. It doesn't really get to me, except for that it takes away from content. However, that shit has no place here. Is it gonna kill me, no. I don't care to see it, and especially don't want someone that I refer here to see it.

That button is incredible. Way faster than PMing a mod.

we are also a kinder gentler forum now :p
so it takes some real stupidity from repeat offenders to deep six them

for an immediate response especially late at night
> [H]ard|Forum > View Forum Leaders
(at the bottom of the forums index page)
to see who is online ;)

I think all Admins and SuperModerators have PM popups enabled
and can take action as necessary in any forum
(but will defer to the home forum mod if they are online)

LOL @ ufokillerz
forgot to mention invisible mode :p
you wait till I signed off last night for that?

Every time I hit the "Report Post" Button in the gaming section, no one answers it. It's not like its a BS report either. I report spam, flaming, and useless threads which could also be known as spam. Yet, nothing ever happens. The moderator of the Gaming forum is kind of sleeping on the job or doesn't know how to check reported posts.

you dont know that they dont look, they may deem it to be on topic enough to leave it... or it just gets pushed so far down that everyone forgets about it right away. or there are just no mods around... who knows

hell, i'll be a mod... i dont have a life either... :D

The report a post icon will send an email to every admin. We all have popups and email notification activated, it's rare that no one sees the warning and does nothing. I have my email set to 15 minute notification as do many of the admins, so there is little elapsed time between the report and the corrective action

.....as for seeing us online, many of the admins run in invisible mode;)

hehe. No I didn't wait for it. Just was online as always. 12 hour time difference will do that to you :p

(dammit, invisible mode... so no more <favorite mod spam> when the admin/mod screen is all red then... dammit dammit dammit)

I would volunteer to be a moderator.
It would be interesting if you make everyone a moderator and see what happens to the forum lol

I know what would happen, only the mods would be posting

Doesn't work that way. Prove yourself to be a good, responsible, and productive member of the forum, and maybe someday you'll stand out from the 40,000 or so others and be asked to be a mod. Being that it's invitation-only, don't make it a life goal or anything.

That, or do some kind of cloned-body-swap and secretly assume MajorDomo's life. Be sure to interrogate his passwords out of him first; I think Kyle might catch on if "he" had to ask about them.

Hmm.. He's only a few hundred miles from here at the most.. No! I'm behind that now! :D

I propose that we chain major to a keyboard and keep him online 24/7, except when he's playing in the shuffleboard tournament:p

Feel free to click the REPORT POST button on every single post you see that gets you ticked and we will look into it, I promise.

Bottom line is that with a community this big, we could use your help on these sorts of things where mods are really not needed. The community can police itself, it just has to try a little is all.

Yes, but, some hardass nazi mods could clean it up quickly, make all the mods hardasses and then once everyone sees what happens to the prime suspects, I think everyone would be scared straight, or, as my boss would say, we could ask them 3 times nicely, but, that is the new girly way. I miss the days of corpral punishment:(
"A few rotten apples spoil the barrel" applies here. The only purpose moderators serve is to throw out the bad apples. Once those are gone, the community doesn't have to fear people posting things no one wants to see (not text, if you are understanding me correctly :D).

I like how the mods will usually only poke you in the right direction if you do something wrong. They barely ever say "3 day ban."

You only have to ban the worst of the worst. The rest will get the picture quite quickly, along with some help from one day bans . I speak from experience. :)

Very true. All in all, I haven't had much of problem when it comes to trash on this forums. Except for the occasional flame war, but that stopped when I stopped going into the Video Card forum. :D

AHAHAHAAHAHAHA omg...only 3 days? No! I got 2 weeks for flaming someone that caused a car accident in the car forums. Figure that one out

Cause a car accident and put people's life in danger, and tell the guy your feelnigs, 2 week vacation

Oh well, shit happens, no hard feelings, I am still here lol...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that is the direction we want to move in.
