The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

Just downloaded and started the DLC. Level 37.
Getting a lot of glitches where if I hold controller buttons, the game switches to mouse and keyboard prompts which of course doesn't help me.

Anybody else?

I had the opposite, I'm very happy with keyboard/mouse control but when the controller is plugged in, it assumes I'm using that and I cant disable the controller in game.

I caved Friday night and picked TW3 up at G2A. I played from 10AM Saturday morning until Midnight that night. Then I played from 9AM Sunday morning until 9PM that night when the electric went out. The game is amazing which is surprising since I felt that both TW1 and 2 were both downright awful.

It runs silky smooth on my old 4GB GTX670 at 1080p and all Ultra Settings other than Shadows and Grass Distance being knocked down to High and Hairworks Off. Is there a FPS counter in game?

The game is absolutely amazing other than a few niggles:
Diving when the water is a foot deeper than Geralt is tall is frustrating. Actually anything underwater is frustrating.
Geralt can't just instantly turn around when not in combat. He has to walk in this little circle which makes looting/activating things annoying sometimes.
Ciri walks like her lunch is crowning.
The level requirements on the gear is awful. I've found more stuff that I can't use than I can.
The game looks great but some of the textures are rough which is incredibly apparent and ugly when there's a cutscene and the object (chair, old curtain, etc) is in the foreground.
You can get hung up on the terrain when fighting. It doesn't happen all that often but it's infuriating when you get killed because you rolled into a couple of pieces of gravel and can't get out.
It seems like it's slow to level up in the beginning. It took forever to get from 1 to 8 or so although it feels like it might have picked up after that (I'm level 12 right now).
Fast Travel signposts are everywhere yet rarely where I want them to be.
I've had the game get stuck in the over the shoulder "Witcher Senses" view a couple of times with the only way out being restarting the game. It would be a nice QOL upgrade if the Witcher Senses button/key was a toggle.

Other than those little things the game is amazing.

I believe there is an alternative movement system that you can enable that will fix the movement problems. For leveling, you do that with quest missions. All the little side stuff while fun, will give barely any XP.

there is is in Options - Game play - Movement Response, set it to alternative. Been using it myself it does feel much better

One mod you might want to look into is Auto Loot I use the herbs only. one small thing that buged me my first play through was the window poping up every time for a single herb lol

just finished the expansion. its totally different from the main game, story telling wise, but not in a bad way. its very cohesive and the story itself is well rounded out. really enjoyed it even without the best gear or upgrades. hell, i hadnt even crafted superior swallow until the last mission.

i can fully recommend the expansion to anyone though, its brilliant storytelling and very engaging from start to finish

Agree $9 these days buys you a hat on Origin. Got me 10 hours of game play with CD Project.

i still have a couple of question marks open from the expansion as well, so im sure i clocked in more than 10hrs already and then some.

gonna do those with the next expansion coming early next year.

They announced the next expansion might close towards half way Q2 of next year rather then early Q1. So it's still near 7-8 months away.

I find myself not very engaged by this expansion. Not that it's bad but I have a hard time staying interested with the story after the epic story ark of the main quest line.

Meh. Lots and lots of cutscenes. More crafting. Whoopee.

......Geralt absentmindedly thumbs through his pockets and finds a well worn deck of cards. Not the Gwent deck, the OTHER deck from his amnesia days. "Sh$t, " he says to himself "this used to be a loooot easier."

They going to fix the level 70+ gear requirements as it's ridiculous and 1.10 broke the game pretty much for those level 60+.

Ultra w/foliage visibilty range turned to high, and no hairworks, and you should get a locked 60fps @1080p.

Thanks for the feedback. Now that I have the game I realize there is also a setting for hairworks aa. What setting do you recommend for that? I turned the other hairworks switches off.

I started playing this again and forgot how good it is.

I'm on my second play through now.
Using New Game +.
I pumped the difficulty up to death march. Wow!
What a difference this game is on the hardest difficulty.
It's a whole new ball game now. As excited for the second run as I was the first time around.
I've already encountered a few bosses that I don't remember fighting.

It's nice to not have to redo everything all over again( ability points, gear, etc..), with NG+.

I may pick up the season pass.

Shit, this is great. Enjoying this much more than FO4, that's for sure. Need to setup my controller, getting a sore finger from clicking/combat.

Fallout 4 is a crap comparing it to The Witcher.

Is there some news on the "boold and wine" expansion?

Yeah, I've put in a good eight hours this weekend, without even trying.

Aww went to buy this today, looks like i missed the deal on both GoG and Steam. Looks like i'll be waiting a bit longer :*(

It is $25.99 on GMG VIP room, or $29.99 on their regular deals. It gives you a GOG key. Go get it now before you miss it. This game is worth every penny even at $60, and I don't say that lightly because I never buy games at full price, haha.

Anyone else's in-game volume really low? I have to crank up my speakers 3x past the normal ranges I listen at just for this game which is annoying when I'm getting alerts from my other programs in the background.

The dialogue volume in this game is a bit buggy on my end.

NPCs at random times sound like they are far away, when I'm right next to them. But the overall sound of the game has not been an issue for me.

Just curious. Has anyone found a fix using SLI with the second card handling Physx? Game runs perfectly if it's set to the CPU for handling Physx, but lot's of stutter if the second card handles it. Not a big deal at all, I'm just tired of having to change my setting when I want to play TW3.

The first screenshots of second Witcher 3 expansion, Blood and Wine, have been released...they show a grand city and the palace of Beauclair basking in the sun, as well as a vineyard in the new Toussaint region, which is famed for its wine

Blood and Wine is due in the first half of 2016, and will offer an adventure lasting 20 hours...it takes place in a large new area that is visually unlike anything in the game so far...
