The wait is so painful...

Waiting for the 7850/7870 launches :| already sold my 6950 for $250... next week won't come fast enough, and knowing my luck they won't launch it then lol...

Based on AMD's track recrod. The 7850 will have similar performance to your 6950. So I don't know why you would want to upgrade to the 7800 series GPUs.

I only bought the 6950 2 weeks ago when my 5850 died... a customer came in wanting one and they are unavailable from distribution anymore so I sold them mine (and made it clear I had been using it for 2 weeks).

The wait is terrible for me too because I'm running a 9800gt. The prices on 6950's are way higher than they use to be, not an option for me anymore.

Planning to get a 7870. Wonder if there will be non reference designs for the 7870 at launch.

i built a brand new 2500k rig last week.

i've been using on-die gpu since then.

i'm with ya bud.

Well, I am waiting for them to come so prices will drop on the less newer models. Sad how travel and wedding planning force me to go from waiting for new card purchases to purchasing older models. Just have to live vicariously through the upgrade junkies here on this forum.

Any word on if the new 7850 will have the ability to unlock to the 7870? Figured it probably wouldn't, making the 6950 2gb's that much more a better buy to have..

Prices don't seem like they will drop much on the older cards like 6950's, seems like they are almost sold out at many places. Low stock means higher prices. Probably will stay little cheaper than the 7850 if it is comparable performance wise.

I've got two stock 6950 reference cards in x-fire trying to do bf3 in triple monitor at 5040x1050. That's a beating. Only medium is really smooth around 50fps. I'm hoping the 7870 really is 6970esque in perf so I can get two and bump my settings to high. 79XX is way to expensive for me.

Did you think about upgrading the CPU? it might be holding you back in eyefinity, too;)

I severely doubt it's my CPU at this point. However at the moment I'm at 3.3GHz stock and I can go to 4GHz almost without even trying so I can always ratchet it up if I need to test that. BF3 also is coded to use up to 6 cores so I know it's getting a good amount of work out of my 1100T currently.
