what are the best cards I can get for under 500 bucks? Please post multiple possibilities and which one you support. Also say why.

yeah, ATIs response , the X1800XT is a little late out of the gate. THe GTX is the easy obvious choice.

How much is the BFG 7800GTX OC priced at?

Definitely not the fastest card in existence. I believe that goes to the 512MB GTX.

What kind of motherboard do you have? I suggest the EVGA 7800 GT CO for about $350 - barely slower than a GTX, shorter (good for you since you are the president of the SFF club?) plus you save $150 that you can use to buy somebody something for xmas

Wow, the 7800GTX 512 is really expensive, but, it is the fastest nonetheless. If i had the cash, i would use it and get teh 7800GTX 512, but not the 256 over the x1800XT.
