I really am not trying to be a jerk. I like VIA chipsets on motherboards and all. When I went there looking for advice on a good S939 board with a VIA chipset, no one really gave me anything, they were all suggestions for other boards and chipsets. Thats not really what I asked for..... Anyway, theres only a handfull of posts and threads here. Guess I'm just wondering what made the admins make that whole forum.... just for VIA. It seems as effective as a "Matrox Flavor" Sub Forum in The Video Cards section..... Thanks. (Now for the flaming followed by a lock.)

Although the market is small, there is a very hardcore VIA fanbase. Ever notice how the discussions in there are much more intelligent than the other processor forums? It's because VIA holds a niche market, but still a veyr good market.

I for one love the VIA forum. I honestly don't know what I'd do without the "VIA FAQ," or the help I've gotten from those guys on several occasions.

On this forum, there aren't alot of people jumping on the VIA processors. The systemss are low powered and made for cool and silent operation for a person who wants a cool and silent PC for the internet, e-mail, or small business. They aren't made for any type of gaming or such. Therefore, most of the people that visit this forum aren't really for them. There is a small group of people (me included) that built one or a few of these systems for a small business, and HTPC, a file server, or for light use and absolutely love them. I got interested in them around the time the forum was created and now I love them, but love them for what they are designed for.

VIA processors haven't really reached the large market yet, but there is still a small group of people that love them and use them frequently. Another great aspect of them is that they are CHEAP. I built an entire system with DVD+/- RW and 80GB HDD for $350. The fucking case was more expensive than the motherboard and processor. :p The mobo/processor totaled $65.

Cheap cool file server FTW. :D

Because a couple of people actually asked for it to be created a few months ago (I can't find the original thread).

It was more than a few, it was almost an outcry....if the number of members would post regularly in the forum they said the forum needed, it would be busy....there was a speculation that it would pickup speed with the surge of popularity Via MoBos...looks like neither has happened.

I second that. I love the VIA forum. There is the occasional post, but most people haven't picked up on it yet. The word still needs to get out there. :(
