Bigger is always better. For instance Jennifer Connelly's tits is better than Melissa George's tits. :D

Now tell me that a 500 pound chic with 100 pound tits is better then Jennifers'?

K, shut it.

I don't see how can this stand for programming/web/etc. Having a 30" screen farther so it has the same relative size as a 24" with a much higher resolution doesn't equal reduced eyestrain in my logic. Care to explain further?

This thinking doesn't make sense to me either.

If you put the monitor farther away equaling the relative size of the smaller monitor, you'd actually have smaller text on the 30" than you would with the 24. If you want to know what that's like, turn off monitor scaling in your drivers and lower your resolution. You'll see what I am talking about.

I've got my 30" display about 2 to 2.5 feet away from my head, and it fills my peripheral vision nicely and kicks ass for playing games on.

The closer things are to you the more effort is required to focus.
Having a screen further away is less strain on the eyes.

Only up to a point, then it becomes harder again...

lol, how big is your front room?

My screen is 4 metres away and is really relaxing to view.

4 metres?!? Do you do any work on that screen? At WQXGA resolution there is no way I'd be able to read the text on my monitor with it 4 metres away - not without seriously increasing the font size and or some serious squinting/strain, which I like to avoid cos it screws everything up (I've found, anyway!). Now, I still agree that the closer something is, the more difficult it is to focus. But there is a sweetspot, and I think for programming etc. it's not 4 metres away!

On a completely different note - ish - I got my 3007WFP yesterday and it's blooming massive! Only I have a few problems:

1) My main PC is screwed, it only displays boot up but won't display anything when I get into Windows, not unless I boot hitting F8 and choosing "Enable VGA mode". I don't think this is an issue with the screen itself; I've had problems before where I couldn't install the latest drivers for my graphics card on that PC because the very same thing happened. On top of this, I plugged it into my HTPC, which has the exact same mobo and gfx card and it worked fine!
2) I say it worked fine.... my 9700 aren't dual link, so it only displays up to WXGA (1280x800) resolution.

Other comments:
1) It's revision A02
2) It's huge
3) There is a buzzing coming from it, but it practically disappears when brightness is set to max. Also it seemed to vary in general throughout the evening, and depending on what was displayed (i.e. boot up/windows etc.), and I'm not running it at it's destined resolution yet, so I have yet to guage how much this is an issue.
4) Colours look superb (very non-pro assessment)
5) Incredibly sharp
6) It is slightly brighter on the right, but only if you look for it
7) It's huge
8) No dead pixels
9) Looks the biz
10) Finally, it's huge

I think the size is relevant if you do either or both of these:
1) Avidly game
2) Professional work (that requires lots of windows and panels etc.)

I think it would be overkill for your average punter using it just for net, email, word processing and the odd game perhaps. But if you mainly use your PC for gaming and/or professional work, I think this may be the most beautifully sized TFT!

Using this thing at WXGA resolution will certainly reduce eye strain, but doesn't look disproportionately big, so I can still work with it as it is (albeit on my HTPC :(). I am yet to see how absurdly big WQXGA resolution is. C'mon ASUS, get your 8800GTXs out and shipped!!!! Mind you, I still need my case and RAM before I can build this bloody thing. Arg!! Hurry up Lian-Li! Get your ass in gear Corsair!

Finally, she (the 3007WFP), is beautiful.

I have a 2.9 metre screen which is how I can sit this far away (see my specs).
Its by far the most relaxing way to use a PC.

Hope your new monitor works out well :)

Ah ok I see! What resolution do you run your projecter at?

Currently only XGA.
I'm speccing up a 1080p system, I can let you know if I can read it when it gets built (in a few months it looks like) :)
Its over easy to see everything at the moment so should work great at 1080p.
I'll probably sit closer anyway to catch all that resolution :D
