Not sure if this EXACTLY fits into the case mod catagory, so, mods, sorry if this is misplaced I choose the best possible catagory I could think of

Purchased the Starbase @ Tweeter. This is my 2nd Sirius subscription now (they had 4 in stock).. Let the fun begin!

Wired up working and getting preview channel
Just ran the RCA outs to the input of my Audigy 2 ZS
Spliced the wires off one of my hardrives, added a new connector so the drive is usable again, wired up the Tuner w/ the bare wires

All tucked in, splices taped up, antenna wire and RCA cable is ran through the back of the PC through one of the PCI/AGP board slots. Now ready to close up the case

Took out the 3.5 drive bay cover, velcro, boom, interface mounted..

Just need to go back now and clean up all the wires, ie: shorting the tuners power cable.. As for now.. Life is grand

P.S. please ignore that RED drive face, from my old case, haven't gotten to repainting it to match the current case

Didn't XM make a radio for the computer? If I recall correctly it got hacked and allowed people to save thier music. Sooo, does Sirus make one?

I believe they discontinued it for that reason alone.

anything that dumps sound into the PC can be recorded, period.

record - source - "what you hear"

that is super cool!

Alittle update

Re-routed the interface wire out the back of my PC and mounted it to a more suitable place, one of my two monitors, also went and cleaned up the excess wires.. I know my case is still messy but eh, I'm not big on wire hiding..

The XM one had a USB cable that would give song info so the hack automatically sorted everything and filled in the id3 tags. Without it you would have one big file.

I see dust!

I know the satellite portables, like the Sportster get very hot, how is the heat on that one.

So you just didn't want to use bandwidth lto get your satellite radio?

heat is no problem, I have my PC well circulated with two 4800rpm fans on the speed controller, this would get hot in normal conditions but is barely warm to the touch inside the PC

This is my 2nd Sirius sub, and the online streaming quality isn't the best so, thats why instead of another PNP I just decided to install the tuner in my PC instead

MAXIM 145 rocks. Alt Nation 21 is my other favorite.

Good music, Bower is kinda cool, Evan and Brian are cool (except for the whole Guy Past-time Voting thing... they need to lose that), and the Covino and Rich show rocks too.

MAXIM 145 *NEEDS* a morning show tho. According to SiriusBackstage, they are working on it. Gawd I hope it's not Greaseman or something crappy like that.

BTW: Cool Mod. :)

very nice, I still can't belive no manufacturer has come up with a 5.25" FM tuner\radio (except the newq and that crappy gigabyte thing)

Not true, if hardware people would add in support for that new microsoft thingy then you would no longer be able to digitally capture the music. It adds in noise to the file that is only decoded by the sound card, so you cant intercept and record it digitally, of course they cant protect the air so you could always record it from the speaker with a mic :)

Thankfully to get that security method to work would require a lot of hassle that would make every end user scream so it wont be adopted by any sound card manufacturers for a long time if ever.
