The raidmax Smildon

Meh, it's okay for a cheap case, if that's what you want.

I used one of these in a recent build for my wifes machine. I caught it on sale at newegg for ~$50 (after rebate) w/free shipping. Pretty good case for the price, was easy to work with and is well ventilated. Worth noting mine has a 120mm as the rear exhaust, while others I've seen have an 80mm. The side 80mm are a bit loud for my liking, but that was fixed with a fan controller. The toolless connectors worked well, and I love the "power led" (the whole front lights up :)) Overall very pleased...

come on man at least give them better props then a honda dude...maybe a infinity or a lexus.I'd rate my 690 as a range rover...

Sorry to correct you, but it is...

Raidmax (every other cheap cases) = Ford Pinto
Antec, Cooler Master = Honda Civic
Lian Li, Silverstone = Rolls Royce

Another correction is in order:D:
Raidmax and other cheap cases = Ford Pinto
Antec, Cooler Master = Honda Civic
Lian Li, Silverstone = Lexus
Windy = Rolls Royce

I'm only counting cases you can get in the US. ;) Windy cases are sweet though...

whats up with the btx for real. i jus dont understand why people use it. is it from other countries ? ive only seen one btx computer in person ever. and for whom ever made the punctuation comment is that better ?:D

+1 for Smilodon....that is.. +1 for Smilodon looking like a peice of shit.

Also +1 to stop talking like a whitebread gangsta wannabe.

For real.

Has something to do with Dirk Diggler I'm sure.

+1 for forums being broken, too.

It's ugly, its' cheap and like all Raidmax cases, a piece of shit in my opinion.

One of my buddies bought one for his new build. A real PITA to work with, many sharp edges, and it just outright sucks for cable management. Not to mention the fans that come with the case sound like someone is doing Tri-SLI with GeForce FX 5800 Ultras...

that sounds like fun:p

Yeah, it's pretty bad considering he bought it for $130 at a local computer shop called "Digilink Computers."

Even for the price it goes for on Newegg ($93 plus $20 shipping?!) it's a waste of money. If I want to cut my hands to ribbons while wasting $120, I'll just grab a razor blade and a lighter.

damn haters shhhs every one hates on this case all i was doing was letting you all know about a inexpensive case thats easy to work with. all the reply jus bash it in the ground my bad.

yep had one many sharp edges and case was kinda cramped with crappy wire management.

LOL @ naming the plastic side piece "Dirk Tooth" cause "Megantereon" didn't sound cool or was too hard to pronounce. Yet they chose to name the case Smilodon instead of "Sabre Tooth." If Raidmax's case line up were to be represented by a movie character... the Smilodon would definitely be Sloth from the Goonies. It's ugly, sounds stupid, and sometimes you wish you kept it chained up out of sight.

Basically if it isn't an Antec, Coolermaster, or Lian-Li most people in this forum aren't going to like it. There are some fans of the Thermaltake Armor series (I'm not one of them, I think those useless flaps on the front fucking suck and are just a retarded idea, asthentically and mechanically) but those cases are something you either love or hate.

I think it all depends, to me most of the Nzxt cases look like shit. But out of nowhere they put out the Rogue, then follow it up with more crappy looking cases.

I think those cases are hideous as well. I haven't however seen the Rogue.

thermaltakes are like the riced out corollas of the enclosure industry.

That case is pretty nice, might pick one up to move my wifes MATX PC into since her's is having issues in the Antec Aria it currently resides in.

No disagreement here either. I've always liked clean cases which provide solid quality and functionality. I don't care for cases that look like cars, dragons, alien heads or sweedish snapping beavers or whatever the hell else they come up with.

Swedish snapping beavers? I think you just discovered a new species. :p

I bought a Raidmax case/350w PSU combo for $30 before I knew better. Luckily, I didn't power anything bigger than a 9800 pro, p4, and one hard drive off of it, so it limped along fine. I'll never purchase another Raidmax as long as I live. It was thinly walled, the edges were (really, really) sharp, and the window scratched more easily than anything I have ever seen. It served its purpose for the time, but it was way uglier than it should have been (I didn't have good taste at the time), and it was a POS all the way around.

I've since graduated to Lian-Lis, so I think I've made an improvement.

That case with the DFI motherboard and UV green stuff looks pretty cool, but only because the inside is SO clean. I guess it's acceptable, but after Lian-Li build quality, anything else is not worth it.

I also think this case isn't a nice looking case. I prefer the clean lines of my p180, and similarly clean cases... If I'm going to have to look at something, I want it to appeal to my senses..

"when you turn your computer on, does it return the favor?" :)

Do you have anything to contribute to the thread, positive or negative? This thread has been in active use for four days, take your "THX 4 NOT SEARCHING" crap elsewhere. Let us bash on this case in peace.

I contributed 4 threads where the "smildon" was discussed previously. There were plenty of others where it came up either in conversation or direct comparison. now ask yourself, what do you contribute to this thread, other than sheer nonsense to pad your post count ?
