The Quiet Response

OOOhhhh I get it, he is trying to point out every post where someone says they have a problem with a 8800 card... Nice job considering this is a tech forum where people go to ask for questions for problems they are having.

Why not link to all the help threads located in this forum as well?

Lol...what a fanboy...

BTW...I didnt know ATi came out with the 29000XT's yet, you must be speshul!

And if you want to do this, look at how many people have been enjoying the 8800 series long before ATi's 2900's and they still dont outperform the G80 when they should since it was like 6 months late.

This guy's a known forum idiot. I agree with him that the 2900's aren't as bad as many people are so quick to say.. there are indeed hidden strengths, but right now there isn't much to show them. But I think his methods and incessant posting about how great his card is is fucking annoying (especially because it's really not "great").

The 2900 vs 8800 has been so over played. There good cards period.Own them both.Pick your poison. They both have there issues.ATI's issue are well known.

Nvidia had atleast 8 months to fix this issue(see link)which they have not, cannot or unwilling to.Yes i suffer from issue below.Running over 100fps and then dropping to 20-30 is Inconvenient to say the least.

8800 huge fps improve after alt-tab. Did you noticed this ?

He has probably subscribed to all the threads because he probably posted in all of them.

Well he spent 1hr 21mins from first post to when he gave up/stopped editing. And the ironic part is most of the problems were fixed in those threads and the "value" ones are personal opinions which have differing factors such as screen size and "future-proofing".

I'm just a little confused as to the true meaning of the title. "The Quiet Response"? That could mean many things, I would imagine, but my curiosity lies in what he believes it means.

A better title may have been "A Clear Agenda", "An Unwillingness to Relinquish", or, perhaps, "Musings of Grand Unimportance".

If you have a better title, by all means, share! :)

Reallly, the sad truth is that few people other than him care about the HD 2900XT. Most of us accept it as a dissappointment and as a product only die hard fans can love. (Mainly because it's the best they can get and still remain loyal to ATI at the moment.)

The fact that he seems to be hell bent on converting everyone over to his thinking is frankly disturbing. This type of fanatacism is not healthy.

Especially now that the other cards in the HD 2x00 series are out now and they too are usually beaten in many areas by their NVIDIA counterparts. The truth needs to be faced, the HD 2000 sereis is a failure. Are they horrible products? No, certainly not. They just aren't as good as the competitions products. That's not to say that these cards aren't useful in very specialized situations or circumstances or that there isn't good technological building blocks for ATI to use in the future. The fact is that now in thier current form these cards are generally inferior to the products offered by NVIDIA at most price points.

Observing post #5:

Why do I get a deja vu feeling every single time this is asked. If you like your eye candy (meaning lots of aa, I suppose) I wouldn't even think about a 320mb, much less running two in sli LOL! get a 640mb model and overclock it.

-----------------------------------------

Excellent example of why the 8800's suck, apparently. *slow clap*

Seriously...so some guy says 320mb 8800gts is no good with eye candy compared to 640mb, then says LOL.

Clearly this is to be taken as hard evidence, proving wrong the almost entirely satisfied 8800 owners club, and every single review site that says the 8800's are great.

So much time wasted on a completely worthless thread. Why bother? You must be very bored.

Seriously dude you wont find very many unhappy 8800 owners because these cards ROCK!

it never fails to amaze me at how many nvidia fans troll the ATI forum, I personally never go into the nvidia forum. It seems to just start shit when nvidia people go into ATI forum, or ATI people go into nvidia forum.

Your so right... why don't we go back to segregation?

Maybe if people stopped labeling each other as "nvidia" or "ati" "fanboys" and stopped making stupid threads filled with false information there wouldn't be so many negative posts in reference to the OP?

Personally I don't care who makes the card, as long as its a good price for the performance AND IQ/features. I like to cruse all of the forum sections so I can learn more about one of my hobbies and interests. I'm sure many people here are the same way. If ATI had released the 2900 @ $300ish range, it would have been much better bang/buck and received very well.

Posts like the OP are nothing but FLAMEBAIT. Why? Because its placed in the ATI section and given the OP's views regarding the 8 series so its not a helpful thread in anyway.

Point to the troll here?

What an incredibly sad claim you have just made too. You ATI fan boys have run rampid in Nvidia forums for as long as I can remember screaming out "IQ!!!!! IQ!!!!!" and now that you guys have something that isnt as good as an Nvidia counterpart you still piss and moan about every little thing and claim how your proven inferior card is better.

exactly... if everyone who has a 8800 and posted a thread on how much they like the card... well there will probably be over 50+threads..

I am super happy with my 8800gts!! and glad I made the move from ati.

Crap,,,,, just when I returned my 2900XT to get another 8800.....

I find it extremely amusing that two of those threads directly address issues with Flat Panel Scaling in the Nvidia drivers (and it is finally fixable - there's a check box in an obscure place that needs to be unchecked, then it becomes available).

What is amusing....is that you don't have it at all with ATI cards unless your monitor specifically supports it. So, people complain about NVidia drivers not supporting features that they always have supported, but these features aren't even available to those with ATI cards (something that has long been of great annoyance to me with the advent of Widescreen monitors and my love for the occasional Infinity Engine game, Diablo II and Sacred).

Seriously, the 2900XT's aren't awful, but they aren't great, either. The image quality just isn't there, which is a bigger issue than the performance problems in my view.

Hopefully something new will be released soon and we can all start discussing something else.

Seriously, just because you own one card doesnt mean you cant keep up to date on another brand. I've owned both, and currently own nvidia. Doesnt mean that my next card wont be ATI. It only makes sense to buy the best card for a price, brand loyalty is for people who like wasting money :)

In all honesty though, why should we be loyal to a brand? We dont owe them anything, no matter how pleased with a product we are. That just means they fulfilled their end of the purchase.

on any other forum this would simply be locked.

looked at how successfully he just trolled all you guys that got upset and posted in his thread?

stop feeding the trolls

just request moderation on their shit and be done with it

This is the same guy who said in his "the 2900 ain't that bad" thread that ATI is so special that different cards have different kinds of AI, then got laughed out of his thread when people called him on his bullshit, and he tried to play it off as a joke.

Wow.

nVIDIA Fanboys are probably the worst scum on the face of the planet. Sometimes I'm ashamed to own nVIDIA cards due to these imbeciles.

ATI Fan boys are just as bad. The OP is a prime example of that.
