All of this is IMO so take it as that

with amd's boasts about barcelona and the latest fusion annoucements i see several flaws in this marketing..... server folks, only people it targets is gamers, possibly content creators. gamers obviously will get performance boosts if fusion suceeds, content creators probably will benefit

servers need power/performance ratio's, they dont care if they can run 3dmark and get a score of XXXXX they want a cheap, powerful and power effective processor...not one that ties in with the gfx card

/end rant

IMO, the problem with Fusion is this (news from this week):

In the interview with HardwareUpgrade, Amato made clear that the company had not solidified its plans for the Fusion format, be did state that the rumour that the platform would only be available in single-chip flavours was false.
Sounds like it is still in the very early phases. :-/

i was actually thinking that the value market would benefit from this the most. even with ddr3, the memory bandwidth available to those cards will be a LOT lower than even the midrange cards have today :(

I think you've missed the entire point of fusion technology along with the cash cow that it potentially has for AMD. For more information on what I'm talking about please see post number 3.

"We" do not drive sales of integrated graphics solutions.

If Fusion doesn't get windows onto the screen in Windows any faster, what advantage will it hold for businesses?

This has been sufficiently covered..... CTM......

And this......

Once AMD manages to incorporate the dispatch processor on the CPU die...... in conjuction with CTM...... hhhhmmmmm very interesting....

EDIT.... I found this while browsing which seems to confirm my speculation....http://www.hwupgrade.com/articles/c...f-amd-an-interview-with-giuseppe-amato_2.html

Also worth noting that ATi's architecture uses VLIW cores.... Hey Transmeta uses VLIW cores.... Whats that? AMD is investing in Transmeta? I wonder why that might be..... hhhhmmmmm
