Well, I ordered everything off of newegg this Sunday, 11/27, w/ 3day shipping. So, if I am correct my stuff should be here by Wednesday(11/30). I will post pictures if I have the Digi, that night. I won't be able to build until Thursday, because I need to get down to BestBuy and pick up XP Pro, Network Card, and my Saitek Eclipse. So, I may build Thursday, and if I haven't posted pics by then, I will do so. Thank's to everyone who has helped me. Also, check here for pics, and updates, not the thread I started about ordering my things. So, guys are you ready to have that SFF challenge. Michigan we are waiting on you. :p

I have a few mod's in mind. First, I am ditching that shit psu. Then I am going to swap out that crappy little fan, and replace it with a Panaflo M1A. I am not really sure if I want to watercool, seems to be alot to get into for my first "from the ground up" rig. Though, that's not a [H] attitude, it will really depend on how gutsy I am feeling. I will eventually do it! That is all I have for now. I am looking for the a cool, effecient rig, if you have any suggestions about cooler running: RAM, HDD, or a Quieter DVD burner they will be greatly appreciated. Thank You for Reading, I will update soon I promise.

Michigan, Steeeeve, Massive, and any of you other qpackers, as soon as Mich and I get our rigs built, we should have a Qpack vs. Qpack Gameathon with the follwing games: BF2, CS:S, CS 1.6, Cod2, Q4, or anything else you guys have in mind.

*EDIT*
Black Aspire Qpack
Biostar Tforce
*Venice 3200+*
*eVGA 7800GT CO*
2gb OCZ Platinum EB
Western Digital 2500k
Creative X-fi Xtreme Music
Antec NeoHE 430w

I've decided to go with the opteron170 over the x2 for the larger cache, and it's a better oc'er.

About Custom Qpack Cases From Wankel
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I asked wankel To make a Case for 19" LCD's I got the same reply as CC, saying he was too busy. Let's see here. How many of us qpackers are there are on this forum. Maybe if we all ask him, and get enough solid buyers he would do this for us. It's worth a shot. This could be a side project of the SFF Club Aspire Division.

That is all, I can think of right now. If I forgot a few add more. So let's say 10 of us buy these cases for $60 each, and it cost about $100 to make all of them, He could make about $500 dollars off the qpackers. I have about 3 friends I am building qpacks for, and they would more than likely buy one of these.

Possible Idea's
-----------------------------
1) Big Enought to Snugly/Safely Hold Qpack
2) Compartment for Keyboard (saitek series)
3) Compartment for Mouse (Razer/MX Series)
4) Spot For Headphones
5) Clips for Ethernet Cable on the outside
6) On the Side a pouch for CD's.

If anyone has any Idea's Post Below.

I know it's atrocious, but I threw it together in like 3 minutes, and I am not all that handy with a mouse for a pen. :( I am also, checking the length of the Saitek keyboards, to see if they are of sufficient lenght. I am hoping it won't be as long as the qpack is deep.

What do you all think?

add me to that list, im gonna build during christmas break. by then, the f'ing x1800xt will finally be available for purchase, hopefully there'll b a dfi 61x0/430 mobo, and ill have loads of time on my hands :)

Add me to that list as well.

So far my qpack is pretty much all set up, but there's no CPU in sight :p haha...hopefully my opteron 144 cab2e will come in next couple of days.

Here are my specs:
Asus A8n VM Csm
Opteron 144
2gb ddr400
hitachi deskstar 250gb sata
evercool wc-202 watercooling kit
Green x-qpack

hmm. I'm using a Silverstone SG01 for my case, but here's an idea:

besides the "Qpack Pack" Gameathon, what about a QPack vs. SG01 Gameathon? There's obviously enough Qpack members, and I bet we could get a bunch of SG01 members to go for it too. :D Could be really fun. Settle once and for all which is the better case :D

one grenade and they'd all die cuz they're cluttered so closely :D

It'd still look better after the grenade than the Qpack does now :p

That is true, the looks of the Sg01 are simply breathtaking, but it's noisy and big. I am not saying it's a bad case, I just opted for the qpack. < Which is still bigger than what I'd like to have, a 2n25p, but I am going to need that Physx/X-fi, so the qpack it is. Also, I thought the black qpack just looked alright, but I saw Dark Tiger's thread and it looks fucken sw33t. LoL.

I'm game..........My X-fire handle is................guess...........you go it MassiveOverkill..........tada.

from pictures that i've seen online, i think the qpack would look better if the front panel was flat instead of curving in at the bottom like it does. i still haven't seen it in person though.

Honestly, the only gripe I really have with the Qpack, is that it's just a tad bit too short (I wish it was a bit longer so that it could more easily accomdate full-sized PSUs), and that damn case handle (I like a case to have a clean and nice appearance, and that handle just drives me *crazy*) ;/

It's funny you bring up the SG01's noise, because I'm basically working as hard as I can to make sure that no fan goes over 30 dBa or so (highest case-fan should be about 28 or so, while a system blower I'll have int he rear is going to be at 32). Keeping the SG 01 cool vs. quiet can be a trade-off :(

Yeah, I really like the sg01, I still could get it. I just think the Qpack is more "fun" and more LAN friendly. As Far as the drive thing goes, it ins't that big of a deal to me, because I am using a plextor, which are short drives.

i really think they should make a qpack 2.0, where the front panel is flat and doesn't have a handle. i think thatd look a lot better.

They probably will, it seems to be they are making a mint of this qpack, I know at least 40 people with one.

It really wouldn't be that hard to make a front panel yourself out of aluminum or painted plastic, or even acrylic.

see, the only problem with that is that im a lazy fucker. seriously, i am.

i was really curious though, so i emailed them and asked. heres my email and response.

me:
Is there going to be a second revision of the X-Qpack case? I like the case, but its looks kind of lose some points. One thing that pretty much everybody agrees on is that the handle is pointless, and it'd look better if the faceplate didn't have the handle spot, and was just flat. I also think it'd look better if the faceplate was flat all the way down instead of curved in at the bottom. But I digress. Is there going to be an X-Qpack 2.0 or something like that any time in the near future?

response:
Chris:

We will have another new front panel for the same case body in the future. But it may be another 6-8 months later.

Thanks,
Elise

follow-up question:
Hi,
Is it going to be an accessory to buy, so that current qpack owners will be able to "upgrade" their case? Thanks for the quick response.

just sent the follow-up, waiting for a response :)

Nice, Soy. It would be really sweet, if they had a qpack upgrade line. Where you could buy accessories for it, like Different Color Faceplates, Window/less Panels, or maybe a LAN Bag.

That is really a sweet Idea Blue. I will be in your thread regularly.

o before I forget....you are all goin down in the gamethon ;)

Awesome idea Blue, I would LOVE to get a LAN bag for the Qpack. I know a lot of people are warry of the handle, but I know for a fact that I have exceeded the weight limit for it so I will never even attempt to carry it by the handle. I asked Wankel in the Display forum to make a bag for the Qpack, he is the guy who makes the custom 2005FPW & 2405FPW cases, but he said that he is too busy making those to consider making a new case right now. I bet if he has enough interest though he would seriously consider it.... ;)

If the Qpack gets a better front, I'd probably get one and use it.

Although I do plan on really enjoying my SG 01 :D

I want in on this Gameathon. I got a Silver Windowes Q-Pack. Here are the specifications.
Amd Athlon 64 3500+
XFX 7800GTX
2gigs Ballistix
Biostar Tforce 6100-939
Audigy 2 ZS Gamer

Thats pretty much it.
BTW the Ballistix memory just arrived today and the Biostar mobo will arrive tomorrow so by tomorrow night the computer will be built. :p

Also, I was curious to what are some good water cooling solution's for this case...?

If you don't want to do a whole lot of modding, get the Evercool AWC-202 from Performance-PCs.

If you want a full-blown water kit, watch my worklog. Only thing I'm waiting on now is a motherboard.

Yes, I will be watching it. I am very interested in the swiftech storm. If I do go the water cooling route, I will swtich from the x1800xl to the eVGA 7800 GT CO, so I can oc, and not break my warranty. <--------Don't poke fun, I am having first time oc'ers, stomach butterflies.

the dumb part about "voiding ur warranty by oc'ing" is that there isn't really any way for them to know you oc'd it, is there?

IDK, how true this is, but someone in the videocard section said that when you oc the card emits some kind of gas, and that signifies that it has been oc'd. Also, If I fuck the card up, I would refuse to RMA because that's just total asshat, and I can't afford to fuck up a $400 dollar card. I need a car soon too, so I need all the cash I can get.

Exactly.

When I was in HS, I was all about overclocking. Now I just put out the money for good components, and then I'm content with the performance I get.

I am still in high school, I just got a break on my pc. I got good grades, so my mom is helping me out some. :p I am a sophomore btw.

LOL.

Well, wait till college, and then see the drop in available money ;)

I'm going to work on a x-qpack bag....a little experiment. If it works well I'll start a worklog here.

well, my qpack isn't going to actually materialize for another month or two :( so *technically* im not a qpack owner, but im going to b.

Looks good Blue. In regards to the Qpack case, I think the keyboard compartment should be a little bit bigger. I know most people have the Saitek Eclipse for a keyboard, but some like me have moved on to the slightly larger (about 2") Logitech G15 :D and I would love to be able to carry that in my Qpack back. As far as price for the bag, honestly if wankel decides to do it, I would be willing to go as high as $70-80 for something that is quality made (owning one of his LCD cases I can tell you that he is on top of his game). Looking forward to pics of the rig when it's done.

Well, if you overclock it TOO much it releases a gas/carbon particulate substance commonly know as "smoke". As all good old-school electronics folks know: Electronics run on smoke. Once you let the smoke out, they don't run anymore.
