The Oscars Will Be Live Streamed for First Time Ever

Tonight will mark to first time that the Academy Awards ceremony will be available via live stream. The online streaming will be available through the Watch ABC app live and on demand until March 5th.

People who opt to watch online and on mobile instead of their televisions still must have TV subscription service to access the live feed of the ceremony and pre-show.

Must have sub to TV service? So basically just for those that want an extra place to be able to watch it? ABC almost made it there and then fell short of the finish line. The people that use streams and still pay for a cable TV service are a rarity and even more so are going from being a small percentage to nothing. This might as well just be to say they did offer the stream rather than anything meaningful.

Don't get me wrong, kudos to those that get cable service and find it a convenience, but it's just a headline to say they did it and not anything meaningful.

It also benefits those that have friends that have cable ... I sometimes let my friends set up streaming using my Verizon account (especially since I rarely stream stuff)

My wife has this back patting event on in the living room, wasting my 60" plasma and 5.1, I am relegated to entertaining myself in my office.

While I don't have a problem with recognizing good work...the media frenzy over actors in particular is insane. I like some movies, but my media consumption is at my own pace. The blockbusters or award-winning titles mean jack-shit to me.
