RO2 owners can play rising storm maps but if they don't pay for the expansion then they won't be able to spawn with more "advanced" weapons (like flamethrowers and shotguns), they will also not be able to lvl up their weapons and classes, not that it matters that much, CLASSIC mode is where it's at !

No unlocks - no suprresion/sway/other BS reductions - no peripheral whips (thankfully some "custom" servers also turn them off) - no lockdown - no self bandaging - no superhuman sprint speed and stamina - no robotic zoom - no minimap - no zero weapon sway after a 100m sprint, just pure RO gameplay :)

There's also a very popular mutator, it features zero ads zoom new uniforms new sounds and tons of recoil, it's called IOM

Downloaded and played a realism campaign of sorts. I did pretty well for not having played since around release, its a good change of pace from other shooters.

It definitely is a refreshing change. I've had it (and Rising Storm) since release and haven't really put much time into it as I was experiencing technical issues. I'd constantly crash or the performance was crap.

Nice that they are offering it for free. I really need to play more now that it seems to be much more stable than it was.
 
just played arad 2 on a 50 man classic server, it was epic, f*cking EPIC !!!!!! :D
 
Played till FOUR am last night on an infantry only server, and since it was a free weekend got to play all the rising storm content / weapons.

Extremely good fun. The Iwa Jima map (and another I don't remember name of) were amazing, despite my team being idiots not knowing how to push.

Has the Rising Storm's tide receded? I remember a lot of OG RO2 guys and gals worrying about the sudden influx of players new to the franchise as a result of that PCGamer review.

I personally haven't played in a few months myself, since I sold my GPU and have been in school, but I found myself gravitating towards HoS over RS. Sure, the Iwo Jima map is awesome with a good team (difficult enough to find), but, well... just throw me into some foggy Eastern Front forest with a Mosin—I've never been so into a game in my life.

It's a shame for such a game to so harshly penalize the lone-wolf style of play, while simultaneously forcing you into that role when you can't find an experienced group to play with.

Fixed kick voting
Fixed team selection locking up when a player swaps from spectating one team, to playing for the other
Fixed single bullet reload interruption having major sync issues in online play
Fixed edge case where pump action shotguns could sometimes reload more shells than they actually had
Fixed Battlefield Commission scene being badly broken in Eyefinity
Fixed burning players being unable to see themselves on fire
Updated C96 pistol sound references to use the correct sounds, not the ppsh sounds.
Tweaked recoil values of all machine guns to increase difficulty of shooting accurately
Removed force walk when firing an MG

and i haven't played since downloading this a year and a half ago. i'm a little disappointed in myself.
