The NVIDIA GPU Litigation

It's been 2 weeks to the day since I submitted my claim and I haven't received any sort of response. So today I called the claims number (877) 440-7557, pressed "0" and was routed to a live person within seconds. According to that rep, they could take 4 to 6 weeks to process and respond to the claim.

As you may be aware, NVIDIA is attempting to send out CQ56-115DX or Asus EEE T101MT-EU17-BK netbook to all HP class members.

There is a clear dispute between what they are attempting to send out (and save money) vs the language that was approved in the final settlement language (click here for more details).

The Center for Class Action, a non-profit organization led by Mr. Ted Frank, is going to petition the court to seek relief regarding these HP replacement notebooks.

If you or someone you know own affected HP notebooks, please visit http://FAIRnvidiasettlement.com and complete an online declaration form to support our collective effort.

Time is running out for us so please hurry. Thank you

Do we have to give back the broken equipment?

yes, according to the settlement terms, you need to return the defective hp notebook with prescribed symptoms to receive a replacement.

if you know of someone who may own such defective notebooks, please ask them to visit http://fairnvidiasettlement.com/declaration to complete a form so that we can ask the court to enforce the settlement language.

if you use social media tools like twitter and such, please get the word out before NVIDIA is allowed to get away with this!

They want to replace notebooks and tablets with a $200 piece of crap netbook? Stay classy, nvidia.

Finally got my shipping box from Dell via FedEx today (nearly 2 months after submitting my claim). Still waiting for the approval notice which is supposedly coming through the USPS. There IS hope!

Dell XPS M1330 - I got my approval letter on Saturday, my box came in yesterday, and I sent it out today.

I also have a Dell XPS M1330 that I sent in the request for.

Are you all pulling out the hard drive before sending in the laptop? I don't think the hard drive needs to be sent as well...

I am, but only because it has been recently wiped. The direction on the packaging state its not needed, but recommended.

A friend of mine at work got his box recently.

Seems like a solid business model. Make cheap crap, sell it at a huge profit. The only ones you have to fix are the ones who even know about the class action suit and respond to it. The ones with broken GPUs probably will blame it on the notebook manufacturer anyway, so it doesn't hurt your brand. Two years later, you send out "equivalent" parts at a fraction of the cost. You don't even have to compensate ccustomers for the amount of time they had to spend troubleshooting, talking to techs, driving to the post office, and the biggest one: being without a computer or with a partially functional computer.

I received my motherboard replacement notice in the mail this week for my dell xps m1330.

Does anyone know if they are replacing the motherboard with the Intel GPU?

I've already had my laptop motherboard replaced through my warranty 3 times with the same defective gpu. Of course trying to get dell tech to replace with intel motherboard/gpu is impossible. Their only concession was in-home replacement instead of mail-in. The last guy who did the in-home replacement told me that 8 out of his 10 jobs for personal pcs are for defective nvidia gpus.

It took less than a week from the time I shipped my Dell laptop until I got it back in full working order!

Received my box today, shipped it out without hard drive.

As per my previous post I sent my laptop back over 3 weeks ago and still haven't received it.

I've escalated my service call and just getting a response this week. No one has any clue about the settlement regarding the replacement of my motherboard/gpu.

When I shipped mine in I received an automated call from Dell giving me a reference number. That was on 4/6 and I haven't heard anything since then.

I finally received my laptop back on friday. The GPU is the same (8400m) but it runs a lot cooler around 60c. My previous GPU would run 70+ sometimes reaching 90c after prolonged use. I plan on doing copper mod so maybe this one will last for a while.
