Someone had suggested that we needed a big-huge thread for wallpaper (that could possibly be stickied), and I am OMG-bored at work today, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Many thanks to spotdog14 for starting the widescreen wallpaper thread from which I am going to rip a bunch of links. :eek:

Post any cool sites you find and I'll add them to the list as I'm able. Make sure to take your popup blocker with you, as some of these sites are....questionable. More details on each site in V2.0

Google
Google will allow you to search for any size wallpaper. Simply enter the dimensions(1920x1200 for example) into the search box and you can find whatever you need. I haven't found it to be 100% effective, but it works pretty well.

haha thanks for the stickie-votes.

I'm hoping to improve the list by putting the data in tabular format. Of course, to do that I'll have to use images probably, like the AMD stepping/OC guide thread. After that, I'll probably expand to include all desktop elements instead of just wallpaper. It would be nice to have one thread to go to for themes, fonts, wallpapers, etc. (anything Desktop/GUI related)
 
6/26/06 10:49 CST - Update today , added around 10 more sites including wincustomize, which many of you guys know. Work is progressing on the spreadsheet, I think I finally have a template that will work for this. Since I'm tracking by resolution, it will take some time to catalog the sites that are not orginized well. I may just post each site as I finish it, rather than waiting and posting one large table. The advantage there is that I can just link each image file instead of having to include the list of links seperately. Now if only HTML were turned on this would be so much easier. :D

Yeah that was one of my submissions from the other wallpaper thread. I've been using his backgrounds forever, they are fantastic. He even has tutorial pages that show how he put together certain fractals.

Thanks for the sticky votes guys, I hope they add it as well. I know that this doesn't neccessarily fit into a hardware category ( [H]ard|Forum > [H]ard|Ware > Displays > ) so if any admins or mods have any suggestions on a better place where it might be stickied I'm all for it.

Even if you have to move it to the "Digital Artwerk" forum, sticky it somewhere so it won't get lost!

well for one it clashes, a pic of a car and a gun pic just dont mix. Specially on the same pic. Its one thing to have them as sep pics but if you going to make them one image, make them have a similar theme.
 
A++ thread..another vote for sticky...
i have over 100 wallpapers..anyone know of a program that will cycle through all my wallpapers? it gets annoying to change them all the time. :D
 
Another sticky bump! Great to not have to go searching - so many great ones right at your fingertips!

While were at it - a bit off topic, but related...

Does anyone know any places with nice complete (or nearly) icon sets? It'd be great to skin the drab windows icons to match these incredible wallpapers.
