So I've been out of the game for a little bit and my little brother wants a new laptop and I'm not sure whats the current. Last time i checked the I-7 Quad core was "the thing" Is that still correct? Budget isn't too important. $1000-1200 i think, What should a "now" laptop have?

Nothing major really I'm trying to select a 4 year laptop to get him through college. I'd like a Dedicated Card in it, so if he later decides to do some gaming on it he could. (games like League of Legends and WoW nothing major) also to run AutoCAD since he plans on being an architect.
Be very careful about buying a laptop for an architecture program. I've run into people attending programs that are extremely specific about what specs a laptop needs to have. If you can find a spec sheet from his program please link to it or summarize it here.
Also, when buying a laptop for college, don't underestimate Dell's next day warranties. Laptop downtime is a real killer when you have a paper/project/etc. due. Having a tech show up in your dorm room in 24 to 48 hours to fix the laptop was great (I'm speaking from experience.) My school's tech bench usually took a week to turn around a system, and places like Best Buy can be up to a month (speaking from experience there too...)
