Gamespot has a Q&A piece with 3 Halo developers to discuss the upcoming urban combat level that will be included with Halo2.

When the Windows Vista version of Halo 2 arrives in the coming months, not only will it include all the content that was released for the Xbox version in terms of the original game and the separate multiplayer map pack, but it also will come with some extras. There's a new level editor, along with the ability to earn achievement points over Games for Windows - Live--the Windows Vista version of the popular Xbox Live service--and two new maps built for the PC version.

Will Halo 2 for the PC only work with Vista? I'd like to get it for PC, but I'm not upgrading to Vista. Sure would be a shame for me not to be able to play it just because they are trying to get me to buy Vista.

So what are the minimum system requirements going to be, a Core 2 Quad with 4GB of RAM and an 8800GTX? Let's hope it's not as bad as the last one...

Yep, that's it, Vista only. All others intentionally locked out.

All the more reason to NOT upgrade to Vista. Normally I don't stupid bullshit like this, but for some reason, this is just really pissing me off.

That doesn't mean they couldn't make it playable on XP and such. It would seem to me to be pretty much backward compatibility like what the original XBOX and the XBOX 360 have.

Who is so excited to play this game years after release anyway when the sequel will be out soon? Yeah, I get that it wasn't on pc before, but I have zero interest.

Lookin' forward to it here. I never finished Halo 2 on Xbox and sold it. I regretted selling it soon afterwards.

True, but their goal is to push the Games for Windows branding, which is developed solely for Vista.

Plenty of companys make changes that force you to buy new things. They are looking for reasons to convince you to switch to the new OS, not stay with the old one. Its all about money.

How popular is Halo2 on XBox anymore?
Dont see much of a reason to buy it unless theres a decent size community to play against.

Currently 54,798 playing Halo 2 on Xbox...

I really want to get it just for a few reasons...
1) Keyboard and mouse
2) My friend thinks the controller is better than the Keyboard and mouse. We're making a bet on who will win in a 1v1. (Yes I know there is no cross-platform play, he'll be coming to my house)
3) Gives me a great excuse to upgrade from my 3 year old machine.
4) PC community is much more mature (usually) than the xbox live community. Not every parent will buy their 10 year old kid a $700 computer, while they will buy a cheap xbox.

Ahhh, not bad!
Thanks for the info, guy above me.

I may actually buy this.

Actually....
The system requirements are pretty steep... Minimum hardware:
Processor: 2 Ghz Pentium 4 class processor (or x64)
RAM: 1 GB
Hard Drive: 7 GB
Video Card: DX9 graphics card: WDDM driver, PS 2.0/32BPP, At least nVidia 6000 or ATI x700 or above
For reference, I think Quake 4's minimum had a 9600 series graphics card, and this is a port of a 4 year old game.

And also, there is another new map - Uplift
