I have spent 600$ at newegg in the last few days.. argh... :(

I feel so damn guilty, someone cheer me up.. heh.

Infact, I don't even think I got that much for the money..

VGA ATI OEM|RADEON 9000 PRO 64M DDR
2.4b intel northwood core
x-dreamer II case
a nice intel motherboard
512 DDR pc2700
some cool speakers w/sub

:(. Well no one said it would be cheap, lol.

No offense man, but man you spent so much and didnt get anything good. a B chip? :(

This system won't be used so much for gaming as any of you are probably thinking.

I didn't have that much more money than what I spent, and actually, I did get a pretty good deal.

80 for the ram
112 for the mobo
150 for the cpu
50 for the case
50 for speakers
64 for the vid card
And about 60 for shipping and handling and taxes.. damn California.

It'll be used more for watching movies/etc, than anything else.

why not just go for an AMD system then?

AMD Duron 1.6GHz Socket A Processor - OEM
$39.00

CHAINTECH nForce2 "7NJL4" -RETAIL
$59.00

Buffalo Technology DDR DIMM 512MB PC2700
$59.00

Thermaltake SILENT BOOST Highest Performance Cooler
$29.99

50 for the case
50 for speakers
64 for the vid card

+ $50 shipping

= 400.99

I would've except problem 1:

I already had a processor that I accidentally killed the pins on when I ordered the motherboard, so I had to stick with an intel mobo, and get an intel chip. It would've been cheaper, to just continue with an intel. Oh well, I made some stupid mistakes, but hey in the end what can you do.

Meh, my computing expectations require just a little more than 1.6 ghz. My old p4 was 1.4 ghz, but then again back then I was addicted to war3/Unreal (often running both at once;) )

Wait, northwood, so it's a C core right?

Edit, slow RAM if it's a C processor. and the video card? meh

What's this for?

You'd get a considerable boost spending the small increase in cash to get a C processor and DDR400 ram. but oh well.

Seems kinda weak for $600 to me.

Hey man, if it makes you feel better, a few years ago I bought an alienware. lol

Lol alienware :). They look cool.. haha

I just did the math with a calc

The total comes to 520.53$, and with shipping and tax its about 574.

This should cheer you up... I've spent over $20,000 at the egg in the past year. :D

I think a good choice would be:

2500+ Retail: $80
(Easy OCing with stock heatsink, even better with new HS, 3200+ with ease, even for noobs)

A7N8X Asus Mobo: $50
(Who needs deluxe model?)

Geil Value Series 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200: $80

x-dreamer II Case: $52

BBA Retail 9600XT: $178
(Spend $30 more you get 9800pro from Sapphire)

Inspire 2.1 2500 Speaker: $52

Total: $492 + $15 shipping= $507 + tax)

Just think... You could have bought a prommie... Or a nice watercooling setup and a nice case... Or a small form factor PC... Or a nice LCD...

But instead you have a radeon 9000 and a 2.4 B...

... I'm not helping, am I? :p

Lol, if I had bought everything at once I would've bought differntly, but they are three seperate orders. Btw, the 9000 pro is fine for my needs, and seeing as how its got a perfect five star rating out of 70 some users on newegg, it looks fine to me.

I would've gone AMD if given a second chance, and the 2.4b is fine seeing as how it has northwood core.

I couldn't have boughten watercooling or anything like that, I had to have a computer first :).

Much better if you ask me.

All thats really changed there is an asus 50$ mobo and 80$ chip, and a much better GFX card.

Like I said, I don't need a real "insane" gfx card :-D.

True, you don't need insane graphics, but doesn't everyone want bang for your buck : )

And the processor will oc easy, that's why I got it and it's running at around 3000+, which is a low oc to most peopel with that chip.

if I had the choice, I'd have gone AMD. But at the time I had an intel chip, and etc etc, it was all a bad line of events. I should've gone AMD :D
