Some of you guys may recall the issue I had last month with my water cooled desktop and a new kitten.

Well, today I finally had the various components tested by a friend. Here is the offical death count straight from IM.

* AlGuard: should have seen PCI4 melt when I put a new Power supply on the board

I now need a new PSU. Can anyone suggest a PSU ~ 400watt. But with one special thing. I don't want a PSU with 500 wires hanging out of it. I would prefer a PSU with sockets that I can connect the cables I am going to use to it. Anyone know of such a beast?

Damn, that sucks! I'm glad you're upgrading, but sorry to hear you had to upgrade in such a way.

BTW, is "Pussy" a Russian Blue breed, by any chance? Coloration looks kinda like it.

Our kitten didn't knock stuff off shelves. Instead, she practiced climbing trees by climbing pant legs. Was funny as hell having this little black fuzzball hanging onto your belt while you walked around the house. Couldn't feel her claws at all. Now though is a different story. And she still tries to climb, every once in a while...ouch.
 
Yes the cat still lives. I consider this my fault for putting the water pump outside the case and a fan right next to it. It was a problem waiting to happen.

And yes the cat is a russian blue. Cute as a button.

And a helluva lot more expensive. Than a button, I mean. Blue's are a great breed, very personable, at least the ones I've met.

Not to sound rude, but I would have put my water pump in a safer location, out of the way of things falling on it. Anyone who has cats knows that they tend to get into things and stuff ends up getting pushed off sills and shelves a lot. My $0.02.

On another note, it's never nice to hear about someone's stuff frying due to some mishap.

My cat leaves this room well enough alone. :p He's 14 years old, which might have something to do with that.
 
Holy shit man:eek: I wasent around for what happend but from what i gather the cat droped the fan on the water pump and killed it?or poped a line off and it got hot and melted down?in any case thats some fucked up shit!

I say you should make the kitty into a hat or something....or just build a monster system with some Tornados fans and feed the kitty to it. :D
 
but then you'd get the blood and guts and all that over the inside of the case... it'd suck to have to clean that up.

You are very correct. It was a lapse in judgement. In my defense the water pump was placed outside the case months before we got the kitten, but I still should have protected it better.
 
It turns out that my AMD Athlon MP 1.2 procs are still good. What is a quality board I can pick up for them? The last board was a Tyan Tiger MP, but I am assuming that there might be something better now.

Woudl be me first choice, as it's a pretty good board, and readily available, and pretty good for O/C

Tyan Tiger MPx is also a good board (i have one), stable as a rock

I've also got an unused tiger MP, but i have 2x 1800+'s that i'd have to sell with them :(

Dually boards really haven't changed much, as it's a smaller market..

get you some gigabyte 7DXPRW-P (ok I made up the number but they only have one dual AMD board) lovin, i used to have that and it was wonderful. Someday I shall have antoher one...when I figure out dual proc WCing

Sorry about the system. :(

As for a power supply, check our FrozenCPU and their modular power supplies. Expensive though but probably what your looking for.
 
Is that like tieing a can to a cat's tail then scaring the shit out of it? Cat runs, can goes 'BANG BANG BANG!' cat runs faster. :p A neighbor did that to his cat once... It ran across my lawn at full tilt with this can dragging behind it.
 
Kinda, just this time, you:

make hte motherboard into a giant keychain.

and

pierce the cat's tail and attatch teh keychain to the tail via the hole.

A bit more permanent.....also makes for a nice hteft deterrent, just run a cable-lock through the hole in it's tail :p
 
I'm surprised your procs are fine. They look like baked cookies in your pictures.
 
Spare I was pretty shocked as well. The pic is of the bottom of the waterblock. I dunno how the hell the proc survived that.

years and years ago I had one of those chargable hot-wheels cars, and my cat loved to watch it and try to bat at it, untill one day its tail was laying over part of the track, and its fur got raped around the wheel of the car. It ran in circles a few times and then hid under my parents bed! She never was too fond of hot-wheels after that :(

My grandma's cat was about that bad....it went and messed with my PC one day....well when you put in a bad password, it played this godawful sound...

Well, one day it walked on top of my keyboard, while it was sin screensaver mode...and hit enter....RAWRRRRR!!

I saw the cat litearally jump backwards, smack into the wall, and hit it's face on the back of my chair going down...

I dunno if my grandmother was more angry at what happened to her cat, or the fact that i couldn't stop laughing :D
