This is my motherboard/chipset im running on. My question is am i running at 800mhz FSB right out of the box ....or is there some tweaking to do to fully run 800mhz FSB. I will soon run Dual Channel PC2700 2 x 512mb of ram. Do i have to run dual channel to utilize 800mhz FSB....or am i already running at 800mhz FSB? My system specs are on sig. Also will dual channel work with PC2700 DDR333? or i NEED to be running PC3200?

I'm just going to take a stab in the dark on this...

To run your FSB at the full 800MHZ without adjusting your mem settings, you would have to have pc3200 (or better) running in dual channel mode.

400 + 400 = 800

I could be way off on that, but I'm pretty sure that is how it works.

Not exactly how it works...

The 800 Mhz FSB comes from the 200 Mhz 'actual' FSB, and Intel quadpumps it to 800 Mhz. You basically need RAM that runs at a 200 Mhz spec to do it. You don't need to use dual-channel to achieve the 800 Mhz FSB.

Hmmm, good to know just in case I ever build an Intel box (it could happen).

Is there a way of knowing im already running DUal channel on bios i can't find it...

I'm not sure about Biostar motherboards, but when I boot up my new comp (with an Abit IC7-G mobo) it says I'm using 1 Gig of RAM (Dual-channel enabled).

If you follow the guidelines for running dual channel optimally (same type of RAM, same size, same speed), then it should work.

I guess judging by the picture of the motherboard, the purple and white RAM slots are the two separate channels, and you just put one stick of RAM into the purple, one into the white. The computer might tell you you're running Dual-Channel on POST, but maybe not.

PURPLE + PURPLE or WHITE+ WHITE is the only way to run dual channel on my mobo according to the dual channel diagram

as i understand it...doing WHITE + PURPLE or PURPLE +WHITE is single channel mode not dual channel....

am i reading the table wrong????? i think its SAME COLOR +SAME COLOR = Dual Channel. As long as its not in the same grouping. Am i right or wrong?

reading the manual

you either go blue - blue or white - white for dual channel

the memory speed won't keep you from the 800mhz fsb, it decreased the memory bandwidth available (6.4 Gb/s vs 5.4 Gb/s)

there's a small performance hit, but not massive
