Ya know.. I try to fold when I can. Ran the computer last night and all day.. picked up a 7505.. 18 hour completion time, sub 11 minute frames. Was at around 60%. Stopped folding so I could remove a drive from the computer. Started up just fine. Stopped it again around 80% so I could play a game. Started it up and *boom* back at 0%. What a waste. Was no different PPD than the usual projects that I got.

yeah shit happens. though one recommendation, instead of closing F@H just go into your task manager and limit F@H to one core. it shouldn't effect your games and you won't lose as many bonus points in the process..

was this with the windows version 7 client? The one with the fancy "pause" button? If not, v7 might be worth considering.

That was my favorite part about folding -bigadv on a linux vm inside my windows install. Could just suspend the VM when ever i needed the pc.

I have the same issue with my dedicated linux folder. If I stop fah once it will probably restart ok, if i do it twice it's iffy and if for some reason I do it a 3rd time I almost always lose my WU.

A lot of it has to do with checkpoint writes. If you kill it while writing a check point, it will kill the WU and start over. Check your WU logs to see when the last check point was written. If possible set the checkpoint interval to 15 mins so you have time to check and do things before killing the client. I have restated some SMP WU while tweaking things 10+ times without losing a %.
