The first FX-7600P product drop.

We all know Intel will take some ASUS reps out for dinner and 1080p models will be so limited it'll be unobtanium :( I've been waiting for an AMD-powered tablet with 1080p and the only one I've ever been able to dig up was the Vizio which used the even then old Brazos arch Bobcat Z-60 :\ Plenty of AMD platform "design wins" but they never materialize :( There's a Toshiba right now that I'd really like to have, a 2-in-1, but it's again lacking 1080p, yet models are all over with Atom powered that have 1080p and I think I've even seen models with that 2160 res

*sigh* Sorry for the [rant], it's just been >2yrs now waiting for the right tablet to drop my coin on that is able to match my desired specs, and it's that resolution that's always been what holds me back :( Damn you Intel and your unfair tactics!

finally the first one.

Been waiting to see some designs based on this cpu.

I'm still hoping for a SP3 like tablet with the fx-7600P.

Good luck with that. The TDP requirements of tablets would crush performance and cause extreme throttling, to the point it might as well be bay trail or mullins.

Now, an X230 style tablet.....(it had a 35W intel. it could work!)

Good day! I could tell that this is not the _first_ FX-7600P laptop that has surfaced.
I have been monitoring the situation with FX-7600P laptops for like a month. ASUS X550ZE has appeared just yesterday.
However, at many German warehouses and other European stores, there are already 4 MSI models with FX-7600P

1) GX60-5CD81FD (0016FL-SKU2) -- about €900 -- 39.6 cm (15.6") screen, Free DOS , DVD-SuperMulti
2) GX60-5CD16H11 (0016FL-SKU1) -- about €1100 -- 39.6 cm (15.6") screen, Win 8.1 , DVD-SuperMulti
3) GX70-5CD81FD (00176L-SKU2) -- about €1000 -- 43.9 cm (17.3") screen, Free DOS , Blu-ray Writer
4) GX70-5CD8H11B (00176L-SKU1) -- about €1200 -- 43.9 cm (17.3") screen, Win 8.1 , Blu-ray Writer

Prices are approximate, and could be lower in your country if you have lower taxes.

These specifications are the same for all models:

* AMD FX 7600P APU
* AMD Radeon R9 M290X discrete GPU with 2 GB VRAM
* Full HD screen with resolution 1920x1080
* Hybrid storage: 1 TB 7200 rpm hard drive together with 128 GB solid state drive
* WLAN 802.11n , Bluetooth 4.0 , Webcam

According to my information, they would be selling them in 1-2 weeks if nothing changes...

P.S. If you want to see it with your own eyes, you could visit http://www.cyberport.de/ website ,
type FX7600P in search bar, search and open laptops in new tab, then use Google Translate for links.
Some websites have quietly removed these leaks from their online listings though

I am glad that MSI has decided to make a version with Free DOS,
that will help to save a lot of money - €200, about 20% of total price

How? Windows is $100 and much cheaper for OEMs, so it will probably only shave off around $40.

ok so the FX-7500? 19W TDP compared to 15W of the i5 or i7 in the SP3

15.6" with FreeDos costs €900.
15.6" (same hardware as ^^) with Windows costs €1100.
17.3" with FreeDos costs €1000.
17.3" (same hardware as ^^) with Windows costs €1200.

Price difference is always €200. It looks like this Windows is Windows Ultimate.

However, even if it added just $40 to the price, I have no desire to pay anything to Micro$$oft :
not because I am going to pirate Windows, but because I am a Linux guy and prefer fully free software
like this beautiful OS without any closed source elements - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trisquel

I could use those saved $40/€200/whatever, to donate to the developers of free software for their selfless efforts and spent time ;)

P.S. our city government has switched to Linux, and it already helped us to save more than $10 million dollars :

.

Until the open-source driver situation improves, buying AMD for linux *for open source* is unwise. You won't get the full brunt of the GPU, and OpenCL is still borked, forcing the use of catalyst.

Thank you for the warning, omega-x . My 3-years-old laptop is AMD as well ;)
I cannot deny that there are some problems with AMD open-source graphic drivers:
it is more difficult to set up them properly, + their quality and capabilities are inferior at the moment.

However, in my opinion, these problems are not significant enough to choose Intel/Nvidia team over AMD
(partially because I'm AMD fan :D) and certainly wouldn't be able to force me to install Windows later (by pirating it )
Maybe I could take part in solving these problems, by donation or coding; already fixed 2 minor bugs earlier...

If you are "pro-Windows", it would be still better to get FreeDos model and make a fresh install of Windows.
Even if you would decide to spend your money on it : Windows would be 1.5x-2x times cheaper if bought separately.
Probably, Windows model also has commercial bloatware preinstalled, which inflates the price difference to €200

I was really hoping MSI would update their higher end line that 17.3" has my name on it.

Still, this is interesting because it uses dual graphics. Should be more affordable than the MSI's with the R9 M290X.

Very nice find, OP!

Okay. It turns out it's not crossfire/dual graphics in that sense. It just switches from the R5 to the R7, like from integrated to dedicated.

Also, the FX-7600P model has the R9-M270 as its gpu, not the R7-M270 (no such thing exists).

A little disappointed, but will depend on the price.
