I m using xp. I had some mpg and avi files in a partition. after restarting the system after a power loss, the OS ran scandisk on that partition and others. when i browsed the partition i found that 90% of the files have vanished. The folders that contained the files are there but there icons doesn't represent the folder icon. The icons are of like windows system files.when i try to open the open with window appears asking to select a program to open the file. I've tried windows explorer but it doen't open the folder.
The other thing is that the files are not completely vanished. They are there as the used space in partition shows that the files are there.I have video files in that partition only. Now how will i get my files back.
I hope u understand my problem.since folder icons are pointers to the files and i think something got wrong with the folder pointers ,though the files are there which is evident in the size of that drive.
