I was trying to format my 60 GB Maxtor (full format, NTFS) and it always ends up saying "Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged." Ironically, I've used Windows XP on this disk like the past few months! In other words, it's impossible that it's "damaged". Though I must note that the Windows XP installation on it got corrupted, hence the reason why I'm formatting it.

I have tried Windows Recovery and well, it seems to have 'Format C:' just fine without any errors, but in any case with the Windows XP actual format/installation. It simply won't work. Any ideas?

 I fixed it by trying again and repartitioning it as a whole drive (C: ) and then going to Recovery Console and then formatting it from there (format C: /FILE:NFTS) then going to the WXP CD and it was able to install WXP straight from there. Sooo complicated. :p
