Reason I'm asking is becuse I found a killer deal on an Audigy 4 and was wondering what the difference is?

I'm not sure of the technical difference but it's not much at all. I think it's just a higher sound to noise ratio or something...maybe support for one further iteration of EAX (not sure). But I do know the difference is very small.

If you can find an Audigy 2 for cheaper or as good of a deal I would go for that over the Audigy 4. If you want a larger difference then go for the X-Fi.

Why would you get an Audigy 2 over an Audigy 4? I'm an audio noob, please elaborate?

The Audigy 4 is nothing more than an updated Audigy2 and an updated pricetag

if you work hard for your money...then spend it in the right direction...while anything after the Audigy2 is a decent card....they dont compare to the X-fi series.

im not sure of your audio needs...but generally speaking the Extreme Music should more than suite your needs. i have one...and there is no comparrison between the series...X-fi is light years ahead of anything in the Audigy class

Audigy was a screw up attempt to update the audigy 2, The audigy 4 had heat problems, lack of support since it was replaced right away with the X-FI series. Remember when the Geforce 3 came out and a few months later Geforce 4 came out? That must have felt bad, they say things are getting cheaper but back then a high end card cost bout $300, now is $600
