My event manager was filling with this message,
The device, \Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access yet.
The device, \Device\Harddisk3\D, is not ready for access yet.
...so I decided to find out what was happening.
They are both SATA drives, the only two in the computer. No matter what I did software-wise, I could not get the messages to completely go away. I did get the #3 error to leave, though I'm not sure what I did.
Finally, I unplugged #3, which is my D drive for backing up files, etc... and I didn't get the message for either. I figured the SATA cable was bad, and it was causing one or both of the drives to error. I also saw alot of advice about replacing the cables associated with this error.
I went and bought two new cables, nice ones by ThermalTake, and installed them. I went into the event viewer, and bam! ...they're both there again.
I am going to unplug the D drive again, to see if the message goes away... but this is only a quick fix at best. Does anyone have any idea what is going on??
