Alright this is not a good sign. I was just playing crysis. All was great, all the sudden the whole game froze, sound stopped, froze on one specific frame on gameplay, couldn't get back into Vista, so basically Vista X64 crashed.

but why?

Heres what I got happening:

Pentium Dual Core E2180 Processor, overclocked to 3.0 ghz. Method of OCing: FSB upped from 200 to 300. I have anti v droop enabled in the bios. AI Suite temperatures after the crash were reading 40 C, meaning while I was playing, it was probably 44C, which is what I got on a Prime 95 test. I touched the base of the GeminII in my PC and it was like cool to the touch (cool, NOT warm).

Now I have not TOUCHED ANY of my memory settings. could that very well be the problem? Is the memory being Overclocked with the FSB?
I have 4 GB's OCZ Platinum Revision 2 RAM, DDR-800, it runs at 5-5-5-15 timings.

any helps?

A one time game freeze/crash? Game crashes/freezes happen. Make it happen again and you have a situtation that needs some looking into.

How long did you run the Prime 95 test?

You have memory that is capable of running FSB 400Mhz within spec, a FSB of 300Mhz isn't touching that. What motherboard are you using?

You didn't supply your video card specs, I'd be checking on your video card temps.

Same as what I was thinking...

Just because your system is stable does not mean it is not prone to any crashes. It could have been just a program error or some sort.

I understand crashes happen but my sister told me it blue screened on ehr the other day when she was on dictionary.com.

Heres a CPU Z Screenshot of my memory.

Is it running too high?

alright never mind it isnt. I downclocked my overclock to stock and it was running the RAM at 400mhz, so 360 is ok. I locked the DDR2 rate at DDR2-720 so it doesn't move, and I lowerd my timings to 4-4-4-12. the entire computer is alot snappier now.

I'll run crysis again and see if it locks up. it was stuttering with frame rates cause there was alot of water around (it stutters alot when rendering water), so maybe the GPU got too hot.

alright everything is fine.

I went into the bios and set my timings to 4-4-4-12 and locked the emmory at DDR2-720. I ran Prime 95 all night and it was totally fine. 0 errors in 9 hours with a 300 mhz FSB making a 3ghz overclock and my new timings.

the entire computer is alot snappier with the new timings too!
