Well ... for only one day .. had to do a few upgrades.

First Off .. I finally installed Vista X64 Home Premium & Added 4Gb of ram (For a total of 6GB). I have been fighting it for a while and decided I need to learn this OS.
I did the same thing with XP. I clung to Win2K forever, hated XP and then grew to love it. Vista is starting to be the same way. Hardest Part was re-learning where everything is.

Also wants thank Digital_Exhaust for the moral support and not letting me throw the boxen out the window.

It took me a little while to figure out, but got two VM's running and it is awesome.

Also took my whole farm down and switched it over from windows to pxe boot Linux.

The switch went slowly at first, but once i got the dhcp server running, it seems to go much faster.
One thing that did throw me off, is that the Abit ip35-E bios has been broken since the last 5 updates. It would hide some options, and thus i was unable to get my network boot agent enabled until i did a bios update (after 3 hours of reading).

But, from the results, the day of lost production was well worth it.

Each boxen got a 800PPD increase, which was awesome.

I also learned a lot about PXE booting and how all this crap works.

 
That is awesome. I however will not be joining you. My boxen would have gone out the window.

Really?

I love Vista. Not a big deal to switch. It is pretty much the same interface as XP. Most of the changes are down deep where I never see them.

This is the part that would have made me lose it, I have 2 boxen running vista, probably with more to come.

 
No problem with Vista myself... I pulled lots of hair lately as you know with 2 boxens but right now, they seems to be back into track. Hope they can do 2 days in a row without issues (2nd boxen seems a little too in the brink of stability so I'll go bump the voltage a notch and tweak the memory timings with the infos from Greg of Mushkin.

My motto is : If it isn't broken, don't touch it. I broke that since the move and hell broke loose...

Mine is ............
If a boxen cannot do X PpD then it needs upgrading.
X started out a aound 250.
It has got to 4,000 at the moment.
And I think it needs to be upped to around 9,000.
