There is a reason cs is the most popular pc game ever made,.

most popular mod i think, or maybe most popular multiplayer fps. i'm pretty sure the sims, WoW, probly EQ, and a bunch of other games have had a lot more players than cs.

aside from that, i think CS is the best fps out there, the gameplay is just fun, everything works great, there are no balance issues between guns, great game, 1.6 and source both. but just because i think cs is the best fps of all time *by quite a lot* doesn't mean i haven't been playing the crap out of BF2. don't knock on one of the most popular games of all time unless you have some reason to do it other than "cs sux you loser! you play for 56 years and you are too good cs suxxx!" if you point out some real flaws with the game and other games that have done things better then fine, but don't argue over nothing.

WoW does well overseas esp. in korea because its a Blizzard game... and they treat Blizzard games like the pro sports leagues here... with rabid fans and the whole shebang..

...I used to play the game some when it was new and didn't get much into it then. Can't really stand CS:S either. I played it a little, but found it to be the same thing I played in 99 or whenever CS came out.

Yeah, CS:S was kind of a disappointment for me, Pretty much the same game with prettier graphics and ragdoll physics. They didn't actually improve/change/add/remove/etc any of the core game-play elements.

well bf2 takes alot of ram. too much. I got a 3.6 p4 ..........but only 512 ram. runs like ass. The only game that has any replay value is ut2004 ctf. It so fun doing flag runs. I would play cs s if they would have make it intertesting with vechinles and new game types and guns and models. new new new!

See this is one of the biggest things I don't understand about the CS community. If the game never changes, I get bored with it quickly. I can only do the same thing so many times.

What I mean with that statement is that the single player bots are terrible and the online play is good, exept for where it fails technically. Poor online performance. The server browser does blow big time. The whole reserve slot thing is gay. The way EA handles ranked servers is gay. I wish you could connect any server to their database and call it a day. As long as you agree to abide by their rules. Just like with any EULA you agree to when installing anything.

The game is fun when I can actually get on a server that performs decently. Although I usually have to get on non-ranked servers for that to happen. When on lan or on a really good server the gameplay itself is very good. I've not enjoyed any other game as much as I have this one since UT2004. Plus, I didn't like any of the other BF games yet this one I am terribly additcted to.

It did that to me the first time. When you install it, you have to manually browse for your UT2004 folder. The installer isn't smart enough to find it. But you must have UT2004 installed. This is not a stand alone game.

As a note, I installed this game and I prefer CS. That should say something right there. I am not a fan of CS at all.

^^ One of the many reasons PvP games annoy me to a slight degree. If you are new to a game you are never welcomed openly. Someone is always there to proclaim how much you suck for buying a game you thought would be fun and for not being "awesome" at it in your first 5 minutes of playing.

Oh jesus not that crap again. People who think that must be the case are being retarded. That is simply untrue. People need to learn to accept the fact that not everyone who hates CS can't play it. Some of us simply do not like it for whatever reason. No matter how many kills I can get in that game I will never like it. When you assume everyone who hates the game can't play it and that must be the reason they dislike the game, you are being a dumbass.

The same as people need to accept that BF2 haters do not all have crappy machines that can't run it. As thats the popular reason many users of this forum attribute to people who don't like that game. It is also untrue and has no basis in fact.

Why such ignorant statements have become accepted and common place on this forum I'll never know.

Too many hacks, too many 12 year olds, no team work what so ever. To be honest its the hacks that ruined the game, seems every server you go to, everyone has training wheels on in the form of wall hacks, aimbots, etc.

If any game takes zero skill to play, it is this one as all the prepubescent morons are ruining the game, and everyone else's fun by using cheats.

BF2 is a great game. But the single player and online play blow. The server browser was put together by labotomized monkeys. BF2 also lags like a bitch on line and it has definate balance and damage calculation problems. .

and that's exactly why I uninstalled it. its has far too many things to boil one's blood but its new. I hear ya on CS:S ..most use the exploits so in the end its somewhat fair but I like the fast action, not the long drawn out BS BF brings...to each iz own

EDIT: CS:S cheating is BS. find a good server and its rarely around. nuff said!

There are basically two types of FPS players. Those who love CS and think its the greatest and those who hate it and think it really sucks.

I'm in several minorities, then.
I kind of like CS. It's a nice distraction, but not all that.
I never got into (the original) CS, as I've never had it myself.
However, I can still say that I prefer CS:S.

BF1942 and UT/UT2004 (not as fond of UT2003) are better, IMHO, though CS is better when you just want to waste some minutes. (I'm not a very dedicated player. )

This is why I either host my own CS server or find ones with atleast some admin online, if people are cheating they do it where you cant tell (basicly a crutch to keep them from being walking targets)and its not 100% unfair for the players who like to play fair.

Yeah. It felt ... slower, somehow. UT is still the snappiest, but UT2004 more than makes up for it by being bigger, so to speak.

Because now the competitive community is larger than ever worldwide and is ever growing.

You don't change something that works extremely well, you don't change something that many follow as a damn sport. If the NFL were to state rules that you're not allowed handoffs, or running plays, or something, that would definitely upset MANY people. New maps come out for leagues/competitive play every season, so it's not that same over and over...

You do realize, that the competitive nature of CS is why it's still around, is why it's never changed that much, is why Source is such a failure, etc etc.

Go watch the CPL starting tomorrow, follow it. Watch the HLTVs/SourceTV(if Source is your thing), and it'll be very interesting.

stop bashing CS man...just shut up already lol, CS is not for you. Period. Headshots that "everyone" gets are mostly from NOOBS that sprays and pray and gets you in the head. You need to learn how to avoid that by killing them first! lol... Now I am really really starting to think the reason you hate CS is because you suckASSSS ... I mean if one of ur team flashes you.. on accident r purposely... votekick them lol... or change server or teams or something... I hardly get teamflashes because I go and find a good server... with people that plays there regularly.. like in CS:S I mostly play at checkyour6.net .. badass server...

Unless you're a complete moron, you won't get taunted. I rarely see anyone get told they suck unless they do really, really stupid crap constantly. But that happens in any game that has MP or in real life.

Not everyone shoots and prays to hit their target. I found a few of the auto weapons in CS are best used in burst of fire for like 3 seconds as the recoil causes you to miss even more then what you would with a few bullets, not to mention save you a few rounds of ammo so you dont have to reload when its vital .

Did any of ya'll play Tatical Ops back when it was just CS vs. Everything else? It was a great game. Good maps, good gameplay. It was on the UnReal engine, and I still think it was better than Frag Ops (In gameplay, not in pretties). Good games can come in many methods, hell I would rather play Soldier of Fortune II multiplayer than CS 1.6 just for the ability to lean. Oh, and I am rather good at CS.

I do like source though. I think they should have added a bit more to it, like leaning around corners and the prone position, but it is a much better game. Finally hit boxes that work.

BF2 IMO is a better game than CS or CS:S, but it was not built on the same premises so this is an apples to oranges statement. Yes, the steep machine requirements have put a bad taste in many gamers mouths, but I actually like the deviation from a "game for all" type of development team. They said "here is the baseline and everyone else can either upgrade or not play, we'll get our money anyway". It makes perfect business sense. Now they just need to get AMD or Intel to sign up to give it away with new motherboard and processor purchases.
