The case of the missing icons.

Icons for "new post" and "no new posts" missing upon first entering the site.

As soon as I navigate to a subforum, or refresh the page, they appear. Otherwise, they're just red X's.

This also happens with my own forums, which are a totally different program.

Any ideas?

I'm not seeing any issues from my end. If it's happening like you say, it sounds like a problem on your end.

A browser issue? Clear cookies, maybe?

Oh, I know it is a problem on my end. I wasn't blaming the [H]. I just didn't know what to do to fix it.

Well, this forum is specifically for help/feedback regarding issues to do with the [H] forums, so I'll send this off to General Software.

What browser are you using?

EDIT: And have you tried any alternate browsers? Do they do the same thing?

I'm using IE with the latest patches, except SP2.

It's only MY computer, not my wife's who is on the same network as me.

It's narrowed down to my computer, but I dunno what to look for, or what settings to change.

Try clearing your cache (Tools->internet options -> Delete Files).

If that doesn't help, try another browser. If that fails as well, I don't have any better idea what's wrong, but, hey, variation is still good for you.
