I must admit, i am not hardcore, just a guy looking for a small easy to transport desktop.

I have a mac mini but i don't like the rigidity of os x, so i was thinking of moving over to the pc side.

can i build a very solid, stable, boring sff pc for around $400?

i need it to play music, movies, surf the web, word process, etc.

no games, no hard core video editing etc.

im sure the 420w psu that comes with the case is good enough to run those.
heck you can even save some $ if your willing to run 512 ram, single core cpu and a very cheap motherboard

Also you can check out the fs/ft forum to get some nice deal :)
 
yeah, it seems like all of the components listed are solid...

i didnt realize how heavy it would be - 15lbs is quite a step up from 3...

I hate to say it, but I think laptop would be better for you. Spend a bit more and get a solid Core 2 machine from dell. These new Cube cases are huge, and heavy. Comming from a mac-mini I don't think thats what you want. Might want to try and find some older smaller shuttle cases if you don't want a laptop or can afford it.
