I've been looking at some Socket A coolers for my AXP, but it seems this market just gets bigger and bigger every year. I need to find the *best* heatsink for my AXP, noise is not an issue, nor is size I don't think. Thanks in advance, - Jon

"noise is not an issue"

i said that too, till i bought 2 tornados for my SLK-900A heatsinks...
i'll stand by them, but i'd go wiht a much quieter fan

If noise isn't an issue, I have a 110CFM Delta fan I'm trying to sell... :p

Thermalright's SP-97 and SI-97 are pretty much 1 and 2 though.

Thermalright SI-97 and Nexus 92mm Real Silent fan keeps my OC'd 2500+ Barton at 3200+ nice and cool (~50C max), and really really really quiet.

I've kinda been eyeing the SI-97, I want some heatpipe action. But, the fan I'll use is still undecided. Should I go with an 80mm or 92mm?

92mm for sure. You can move more air at less rotational speed, meaning less noise. Its a win-win situation. The 92mm Panaflo Low-speed is a good choice.

I have an 2600+ mobile clocked to 2.6ghz with an SP-97 and 92mm tornado. Runs about 38c idle and 42-43 under load in a 74f room. Its loud as hell, but gets the job done :D

Not really, you'll seriously regret the purchase after a while... I'd only get one if I knew that my box would be isolated from the user (perhaps on the other side of the house), but its not really worth it. A 92mm Panaflo Medium-speed or High-speed would be the fastest I'd run. It'll be a few degrees higher, but a lot less noisy.

I will admit its noisy, but when you want the best and you don't care about noise, then the tornados are the only way to go. I also have a few 80mm tornados in my case. Its loud as hell, but when I'm gaming I have my sound up loud anyway ... it all works out! Its also not bad if you get a fan controller. You can turn them down when you don't need them running at max (rarely or when gaming). Even at lower speeds these fans kick out the CFM's. Been running this way for about 8 months now.
