Sup guys. I'm simply looking for feedback on the best gaming headsets out there. Price is not a problem at all. I currently do have one of the best atm, the Razer Barracuda HP-1 Headset. They deliver amazing sound & do a great job when I'm playing my first person shooters. There is one annoying problem though. They are built cheap as fuck. These things fall apart for fun it seems like. On my first pair, the right ear piece starting to crack until eventually, It would completly fall off. I had to go ghetto & duck tape it. After a few months more, the left side started to do the same.

After a few months more of having to re-tape both sides every week. I got fed up & just dropped another $100+ on a second pair. These went for a bit longer but suffered a different problem. The band that keeps the from sliding down breaks on the right side. Again, back to the ghetto style of taping that back in place but something on the inside is broken, so the headset tends to slide down. My ears are holding the headset up pretty much. Which can start to hurt after an half hour or so. So now, instead of going the razer route again, I want to look at what other options are out there. Sound Quality & construction are my peeves now. Not just the sound quality like before =P.

i have had the razers and think they sound like hell! just my opinion lol

spaceman always recommens the koss sb40 (which i havent heard yet) and i always recomment the steelsound 5hv2. it has braided lines, cable mic, very comfy, feels tough. it has the highs and mids of nice name brand headphones, but only mediocre bass (about the same as koss ksc75 earclips). i always use these when on teamspeak. expensive at about 70.00
u can get their little brother- the 4v - from buy.com for 28.00. has the same sound and mic- does not have the braided lines and breakaway parts

I must had been lucky when I had my Razers, They never did any of that. i guess razer dropped the ball. They dont even update there Razer card drivers that much.

Glad I did get rid of both of the razer trash.

but if you dont need a mic, I would say the ATH-A700,ATH-AD700 or ATH-A900. And if you do. you can always slap a mic onto the headphones with a clip on mic.

The icemat siberias are pretty freaking sweet.
Good if you don't have a soundcard as well, as it comes with an external virtual 7.1 surround soundcard... Not the best, but good enough for the price.

I was hunting around for the best headset with a mic for all round use, and was going to get the steelsound 5H but that got bad reviews for movies and music, so I went with the Beyerdynamic DT234 Pro which is the best all rounder you can get here in Australia. Definitely well constructed, these guys make high end gear, they are an audio company not a gaming company. Plush headphones and I never have to worry about them falling apart unless I step on them in the dark :D

I'm using my Auzentech Prelude 7.1 sound card with my New Audio Technica: ATH-A700 headphones and they are just awesome in games and music:D

If you want your money's worth in sound quality, you're not going to get it from a gaming company.. the only thing I'd buy from razer are from their mice & mousepad line.. same thing goes for steelseries.
That being said, the audio-technica's a700's and a900's are supposed to have great soundstage, paired with a clip-on zalman mic, should be golden for gaming.

The Beyerdynamic's headset looks really promising as well.
If sennheiser's headset is anything like their headphones, these should be an excellent choice as well.
