obviously the high bidder is a money loaded nut job that doesn't realise that you can go buy a 6800u and o/c it. :rolleyes:

I can think of a lot better things to spend $910 on than a video card....

Haha, I don't think it's even about the performance... I mean sure it would be a nice card but the real reason for having that card is just the fact that you get to brag that you have a one of a kind card that hasn't been released yet but when it goes retail you feel like an idiot for spending $1000 or so on something that you could have waited a few weeks and bought for half the price. :p
 
People who don't care about money, and want to brag. If a 6800u can hit ee speeds (actually my gt is hitting ee speeds..), imagine what an ee can do. It's basically the same mentaility for 6800gt vs ultra, except this guy is a lot richer then most.

There IS NO such thing AS ULTRRA EXTREME, It is only BIOS EXTREME. All 6800U core is the same. My PNYCOMPUSA6800UREGULAR$499+TAX went to 475/1275 (watercooled)and back to 425/1100 w/o scratch. C'mon people.

Even if you overclock your 6800GT or 6800 Ultra it still isn't guaranteed to run at those speeds. The manufacturer does guarantee that 6800U EE to run at that core and memory speed, and warranties it as such.

So it's not the same thing just because some of the Ultra's can do it. I would agree that it is retarded to spend $900 on a card. It's also retarded to spend $100 more for a 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition over the regular 6800 Ultra. The performance you get for the money just makes it a bad move. Especially when it's likely you can OC your Ultra to better performance.
 
The most expensive one I can find on Pricewatch is $749 for an XFX , which is still crazy but the one on Ebay is just insane.

I dont think it is bad. If people have the money to buy it, and want it, they can do. If I did not mind paying that much for a card, I would buy it most definately!

Even if you could OC an Ultra to the EE speeds, you could theoretically OC the EE higher. Everyones a winner IMO.

It would really suck if the winning bidder didn't pay.

2 out my 8 ebay sales ended up with non payng bidders.

This is an Ultra Extreme which are hard to find. Though I think a BFG Ultra OC would be just as good... and I saw like 20 of them at the Fry's in Plano.... and 2 of the BFG water block Ultras too.

These bidders are the same people who buy a top of the line alienware system for $5000+ who could easily build the same thing for half the price. Someone like my boss who has the money to buy whatever. You can get the same performance for much less, but why bother when moneys not an object.
