i don't know why the admin closed the thread. there are so many more things to be answered and questions to be asked? my biggest concern is:

how does image quality compare to the 2405fpw when both are running through dvi. the reason i ask this is cause i already got the 2405fpw and i am willing to try this unit out. however, if the image quality can't be similiar, i don't know if i'm willing to shell out for this...

any owners of the westinghouse lcd please respond?

I wish I could help you, but I've never seen the 2405 fpw in person.


However, there is a "had 2405 fpw for 4 days..." thread at the top of the forum right now, and the dude says his Benq 19" 937 has a much better picture than the 2405. I happen to have a Benq 937 right beside this monster.


From my inital view, I would say the Westy has a nuclear light for a backlight. Turning it down to 0 produces some nice blacks, even in a completely darkened room. In a totally dark room my Grand Wega III produces the most ugly blacks I have ever seen. This Westinghouse produces some good lcd blacks. :)


I would say as far as other colors and image quality goes.... I would say it's better than the 937.

Well I just came back from BB. They did not have any 37 westy on display. They had plenty of others but none with 1080p
There is one thing that makes me wonder. Quick calculation reveals that display size should be about 32"x18", given the resolution of 1920x1080 that would give a dot pitch of about 0.42mm. That has to be definitely visible as a screen door effect when looking close enough (about 2 feet). Wouldn't that disqualify it as a desk monitor for PC?
Can you share with us if you see that?

Hehe you're talking to the guy who thought the screen door from the 42" Grand Wega III 1280x720 at 2 feet away was tolerable. :) Games on that with 4xAA looked great!!!


1920x1080... I sit 2 feet and I cannot see the screen door at all. The screendoor is almost non-existant at that distance. I can barely see it unless I am 1 foot from the screen.

Closer than 1 foot with a white background, hello screen door. :)


Your eyes might be a bit sharper, but I have to say this screen is absolutely amazing.
 
really? another member claims that the benq has better image quality than the 2405fpw? wow i'm impressed. hm hopefully i can check this baby out in store
 
You would not be disappointed in the Westinghouse 37" for PC use, I sit at a desk looking at this screen at less than 2 feet away and it looks great, I thought it was going to be to big but now that Im use to it I want bigger. lol! Nice all around TV/monitor. I use it for both. And with the price still falling. $200 cheaper than I paid for it about 2 months ago. Seen it today for $1699 online. I notice no blur either playing HL2 and BF2.
