It sucks to spend 1 month searching for that perfect case and still on xmas day, with some money still, still not sure what case to get. Can anyone recommend me a case?

150 USD is the limit, not counting shipping or taxes. If the case you recommend breaks 150, justify why. I generally i've never had to break 80 dollars, but this time, i'm making an exception, since newer tech is starting to require good cases with good fan placement.

BTW, my current case is the chieftech dragon case (aluninum). I hate now since it has a window and I did have lights. Also, I actually want to try to go for a "silent" design and go for a sleek, clean look. A little bling is ok, but not when its lighting up my room =P

What i'm looking for in a case:

Quiet (or damn close enough) and uses 120mm(12cm) fans, just light enough (but not ultra light) for LAN Deployments via using a strap, not a full tower cause...a 5'4" guy + that = bad memory of dropping it when I can't see whats ahead of me at night, a layout that makes "sense" and with good wire management ideas. SLI is in my future plans, but not like right now (I would like to be preped for it and not go "omfg my cards melted!!")

For awhile, I was eyeing...a Antec P180, Cooler Master Praetorian 730 (and the original one), and if I was willing to shallow the price, a V1000. But alas, i'm stumped on what to get still...=(

I'm sort of at the same slump you are, except I'm building the rig for my cusin's b/f and I'm letting him decide what looks best. But the choices I'm giving him are: the P180, The CM Stacker, Lian-Li V1000, Gigabyte Aurora (kind of ugly if you ask me, but the cooling is bomb), and the Silverstone TJ-06. I'm kind of leaning towards the TJ-06, it's different and looks really nice, plus it already has precut holes for routing your wires, its spacious, and it has that wind-tunnel design..

i got a p180 its nice, but its not all thats its cracked up to be. If i had to do it all over id prolly go for a p160 or pret 730 or gigabyte aurora.

Might wanna try something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811180031
PSU'less but it gives you headroom to pick a good one for yourself. Pretty solid, and not 1, not 2, but 3 120mm Fans! Also, you can swap out the fans for silent LED or non-led models, depending on how youd like it. A good case to start with, $95. A tad expensive, but sleek none-the-less.

i concur, this is a great case to work with. i just built a box for a friend, and i did it with that case! cooling is excellent, and its quite modable. a window would be nice, with switches for the lights. you can even switch the LED fan lights on and off without the fan going off.

cool...and an interesting case a few you of posted..

well, I have my choices narrowed down to a Antec P180 (for the challange) and a Cooler Master Praetorian 730 black....*flip coin time?*

P180 has the better airflow of the two. The Coolermaster is lighter though if you go to a lot of LANs. Lugging around my P180 has been HELL.

Whats the total weight of that P180 of yours? That might be just the deciding factor, since I do go to LAN's like every two months (or whenever a friend down the street throws one every other weekend).

I have been a Lian-Li user for a long time but I do love my P 180. I think it would be overkill for you with using only 2 HD’s. A matter of fact $150 is over kill for a 2 HD system unless you have particular needs or plan to expand in the future. You are obviously looking for quality and the amount you have planned to spend shows that. I would recommend the P 180 if quietness is the main and decisive factor. It’s no lightweight but it is quiet. The other alternative I would offer you would be the Lian-Li PC-6070APLUS for the quietness and lightweight for your Lan parties. The Lian-Li PC-7 would also be more than adequate for your needs.

Gigabyte 3D Aurora <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

Two 120mm out takes, one 120mm intake. Side grill or window, depending on which you buy. Grill helps air flow a decent amount. Awesome tube openings in the back if you plain on watercooling in the future possibly. Lots of room on the inside. Also completely tool less inside, and you can easily remove the tool box if you want.

Thank you guys! Alot of good statements i'm taking into consideration...

I'm pulling the trigger on either a Lian-Li PC-7B (99.99) or the Praetorian 730 (for 109.99 with a rebate) at a local shop I found selling both cases. I'll probably end up flipping a coin within the next 2 days...though i've had my heart on the Praetorian when I saw it at a presentation.

I lifted a P180 fully loaded (3500+, 2gb of ram, 7800GT, 4 hard drives, Cooler Master PSU) and I said "I like the layout, but for LAN wise, esp when i'm going to nVidia Geforce LAN, no.". Felt like carrying 50-60lb (which is fine by me), but not when i'm moving around alot.

(Damn its a crazy storm outside my window. Shutdown time?)

Hell, I didnt know AMS made a computer case, looks pretty nice. I have 3 of their hard drive enclosures, best portable enclosures on the market as far as I am conserned.
I went for the P160WF, I love the layout and the space inside.

Geforce lan with a p180 is gonna be killer. the first one was downtown upstairs and they didnt let use the freight elevators. The second one was cool at fort mason but a hella long walk. Im bringing a damn cart with my P180 next year. I say go with the pret, but im a CM fan as my old case was a cm cent 5.

I also am looking for a new case. Have an old Antec now with 4 80mm fans. Want something with several 120mm fans to flow lots of air without all the buzz of 80mm fans. Had my mind on the P180, but many people complain about the weak front door. Is there any other cases out there with lots of 120 fans to move air? Don't need a power supply just a case.
