Ok heres my story. I got CS source FINALY!!! and I noticed that I was getting a HUGE FPS change during game play. Im talking from 80FPS to 10FPS. I have a barton 2500+ clocked at 2.2Ghz 1gig of extreme 3200 (at 400 2.5, 3, 3, 6) and an abit NF7S r2 system board. I decided I would do some testing and I couldnt get rid of this. I decided that I would uninstall ALL my nvidia drivers including my nforce system board drivers. I went into safe mode and made sure everything was deleted and uninstalled. I rebooted and proceeded to install the 5.1 nforce drivers. Everything installed correctly and I rebooted
I got the windows XP screen and NOTHING!!! AHHHHH!!! So I thought LMAO. I rebooted again and went to last known good configuration and luckily I was able to get back in. So I went through the whole process of elimination and removed all the drivers again and started reinstalling them one at a time. It turns out that the IDE drivers where causing the problems. I had thought I installed them before with the 4 series but I guess I didnt. I proceeded to install the new drivers and the 66.81 set of display drivers (oh yea I have a BFG 6800gt oc clocked at 410/1100). Everything was going good but I found that the bios was messed up some how. I couldnt change my CPU settings there where NONE lol. So I went back into windows to do a bios update but couldnt get on the net. I got to looking and found the nic wasnt working wrong driver. I tried to install the new drivers again but it kept saying access denied. I had to disable the nic in the messed up bios and then uninstall the drivers, re-enable the nic in the bios and reinstall the drivers again to get it to work. FINALY got on the net and updated the bios, checked that all the drivers where installed, and proceeded to test the system. I went from 9363 in 3dmark 03 to 11783, and my CS problems are gone. FINALY after all that I got the thing to run right hehe. I am sure there are plenty of you out there that has done more and worked harder at getting a stubborn driver to work properly but this is my story and Im sticking to it.
