Does anyone have any TF2 servers they frequent in particular?

I joined three servers today and I was instantly met with being cursed at for "random killing" because they're all just grinding achievements instead of playing the game.

If I wanted to grind, I'd play WoW or another MMO where you "work" instead of have fun.
 
I tried out the MaximumPC/PCgamer TF2 server and there great, there not always really full but most of the players are pretty good... I think they have some info on the server on the Maximumpc.com website

you should check it out!!
 
The Gravity Bong is where I play the most. There's always an admin on, so the asshattery is minimal. They run two servers.
 
I usually play on the Rogue Squadron server at 8.9.15.234:27015. It's on 24/7 Gold Rush and doesn't have those annoying plugins that all those other servers have.
 
Avoid servers playing DuelDuel and Achievmentbox. A crap load of medic grinding going on in those levels. Most of the medic achievements will just happen over time if they play medic enough. If they are crying about you mucking up their achievement grinding on regular maps just ignore or mute them.

I go there also. There are 2 of them so if one is full, the other usually isnt. Good server.

I go to this server too. Usually always has communications going on too.

I also go to Jiggly's Fun House, however, since your new, I wouldnt go to this one just yet untill you get better. This is a cool server, but frequented by some damn good players. Myself included :cool:

Heres a list of my favorites. All play largely Valve maps, and are 24 person max, with regular spawn times - the way the game was meant to be played.


My most common are Drunken Brawl, Fragfest, and the SS server.

lol weird seing servers I play on as well O_O Druken Brawl & Officespace swingline. However I usually play on Phlorph, I ping about 90 - 100 but the people make it fun usually. the Shack servers are usually good too
 
I actually love 32 max and regular spawn times so I go to:

LotusClan
FUQ2
 
I should play TF2 sometime... I enjoyed Half Life Episode 2 as well as Portal... so I should give it a shot.
 
+1 for TAC4. TCO are a good bunch of guys. Douches usually don't last long on that server.
 
Unfortunately instant respawn breaks the gametypes due to not moving the spawns of the attackers forward enough to cope with the long distance runs they have to do.

32 man works OK although the frame rate and the server side tickrate seem to become abismal and it becomes hard to play without gimping a lot of your settings.

I just play in random servers, it's a bit of a PITA because teamwork is non existant and I just find myself getting angry because I blow away like 5 sentry guns and all the defence and then get killed but no one pushes fowards and takes advantage of that and by the time I've respawned it's all back as it was :S

If anyone has any good server recommendations for UK based servers let me know.
 
I find myself frequenting the Instant Respawn SourceOp 2Fort Only server. I love 2fort, although I think that I like the old one from TFC a little better but I have great fun on there and it can be hectic as all hell due to instant respawn. The only downside is that if you are looking for a game where people actually cap the intel, you might want to avoid this server as it tends to turn into a TDM (which I don't really mind).
 
The Q Clan servers are a good choice if your on the West coast. They don't put up with any crap and ban asshats quickly.
 
You should checkout 3rd Oct. servers for custom maps (some made by the members themselves).

I AM use to have a great melee only server, but the latest patch screwed things up for Sudden Death play.
 
I play a lot on the PestGaming servers, usually the Customs w/ Instant Respawn server because of the decent competition from other regulars. Also, I'm too addicted to my HLstatsX to change servers.

Jiggy's is in my fav's aswell. Good server and good players in it.

I also use the BOC servers.

I played on Jiggy's last night... all-talk? Really? I hate when servers do that, takes away the strategy of planning with your team. And its usually just plain annoying.

Yea, I agree it can get on your nerves but some times i just want to get online and play.
