Anyone figure out how to load these up yet, (or are the not active for the beta)? I've tried importing them through the menu options but it sits there and 'thinks' about it, never goes anywhere, (ends in a soft lock).

Load up your imported spray in a game like CS:S or DOD:S, navigate to your materials folder ( for CS:S, it would be C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\steamname\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials ) and copy the VGUI folder to Team Fortress 2's materials folder.

Definately possible, already seen some sprays around TF2 including one of a woman doing an impression of a fountain, if you get my drift

lol... now that didn't take long; if I remember correctly thats one of the reasons why they kept the orig TFC sprays mono-chrome for quite a while... same image wouldn't have as much impact in all yellow ;)

Seriously though, is there a client-side command to disable custom sprays? Because this is only going to get worse before it gets better, and I don't really care to look at that shit.

in what little i've been able to find; fully disabling it is is a server side command, though I would imaging you can set your decal limit lower and it will remove them, (if set to 0) but I think this also will remove things like bullet casings, holes, and gibs... but haven't experimented yet.

I could not agree more, one of the reasons i stopped playing CS:S.
And I also seem to remember servers that had it turned off, you could hear people spraying but nothing would apear.

Agreed. I didn't mind it as much in cs because it was a way to sort of mark your kill since there wasn't any other way to do it. But in tf2, with the dominations, taunts, and a completely different feel in the game where deaths don't matter nearly as much, I don't see a point to the sprays. Plus, valve's art direction in tf2 in superb and honestly, I would just find it a very jarring juxtaposition to see "OMG U GOT PWND" in giant block text on walls in 2fort. If at all possible, I'd like to see them disable sprays altogether in tf2. People will bitch, but it ruins the immersion of the game and I don't want to see "squirters" defacing the game.

there are sprays in tf2? god please no...

some people were abusing them is CSS

It wasn't tubgirl, thank god :)

I'm fairly sure cl_allowdownload 0 is right, but also you can set decals to 0 in the menu.

What are the pixel dimensions that are allowed? I want to make one while I am at work today.

No tub. Just a picture of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and maybe my name on it.

Try

cl_allowdownload 0

How do I enter that code? Do I have to use the console, or can I set it up in the icon's properties like other commands there.

For example, the other day I set up some command for no videos (to remove the opending video of the guy with the valve in his head) I think like this:

-novid

and, voila... no more valve head dude... !!!

Is it the same kind of thing, like this:

-cl_allowdownload 0

???

Thanks.

keyboard options. advanced. walla! (voila, but i just like saying walla)

i guess valve classifies the console as a keyboard option since you'll be doing a lot of keyboard typing in it.....<matt foley>when you're living in a van down by the river!</matt foley>

You have to enable the console in the key settings.. in one of the advanced pop-up menus.

Type in console

Is there a way to make this the default...???

I don't think I want console, but maybe this is the only way.

I would like a permanent setting that requires no user intervention so that my young son can play TF2 without seeing pornographic images within the game.

uh hello? I posted a link above that shows you exactly how to do it

Enabling the Console

To enable the console for use:
  1. Run the game/mod.
  2. In the main menu click on Options.
  3. Click the Keyboard tab.
  4. Click the Advanced... button.
  5. Check the box next to Enable developer console (~).
  6. Click Apply.

Really?

Clear as mud.

oh ok, so you're just a bit punchy. its ok, here ya go:

Examples
steam.exe -applaunch 280 -dev -console -sw +sv_lan 1 +map MyMap
hl2.exe -game cstrike -dev -console -fullscreen +sv_lan 1 +map de_dust

To use console if you dont have it set under keyboard options i believe is shift+console. It's been a while since i did it that way.

You can create a autoexec file, and add cl_allowdownload 0. It will then set the command everytime you load the game.
