Alright. Here's my list of games in no particular order with the art styles I'm looking for. They range from texture-less to a specific art style I absolutely love.

  • The Witness
  • Journey
  • Inside
  • Limbo
  • Abzu
  • Rime
  • Oberon's Court
  • No Man's Sky

Here's that recurring art style I'm head-over-heels for. What is this style called?

Rime:

Can I just say that I'm super bummed that Inside is going to be a timed Xbox One exclusive? 'Cause I'm super bummed about that.

What about orange_ maps in CS:S, DOD:S, and TF2? Just throwing it out there...

Not entirely sure what you're referring to. I googled orange maps but didn't really find anything.

Can you post a screen shot? I'm curious.

Superhot. Though I heard that might be changing, I hope not.

It's been in stasis for a while, but I just got a news email from the dev a little while back, saying they were going to start working on it again.

Thomas was Alone is texture free too. I can probably toss a decent list together later of this sort of thing.

While not entirely texture-less (as far as my limited knowledge of game graphics goes), Abzu and Journey are also in line with the art style I'm looking for. The Witness looks like it'll fit, too.

There are a ridiculous amount of games coming out soon that I'm going to need to buy.

Found another game that fits the Journey/Abzu/The Witness/Inside art style: Rime.

It's looking more and more like this art style is almost exclusively found on Sony games.

Let's call it Another World-esque, or maybe Simplisti-Graph TM :D They used to do this style of game more with vector graphics (pre-texture mapping) There were many such games on the Amiga, and some on early PCs. I actually really enjoy this sort of game. Also Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a REALLY good one. It's not 100% detail free, but consists of a lot of silhouetted backgrounds. If you haven't played this one, grab it. They removed GFWL from it too, so it's even better now.

Another World-esque. I like that.

I've been wanting to grab ITSP—looks super cool. Badland on Android is another great game in that same style.

Just looked that one up. I think I'll give it a try after I finish Thomas was Alone. Nice!

FEZ is a bit like this too, and just a brilliant game in general. Also the PixelJunk games are pretty good too.

You seem to like graphics that look like hand-drawn art?
