ok like everyone else im making sure at the last second that my rig can handle doom 3 fine. well i ran 3dmark 03 demo and i only got 5274..what gives!! looked on google people are gettin like 6000+ easy..anyone know something im doing wrong?? all newest drivers its sytem 1 on my sig, thanx to any that reply.
 
videocard is only a 5900xt

Need to upgrade to 6800 series for faster performance, preferably 6800GT.
 
That card will run doom 3, although not at the highest settings, it should still look great. They made the engine very scalable (been using that word alot lately) so that it will look pretty good, even on older hardware. They ran the game on a geforce 4 mx440 (a glorified Geforce 2) and it still looked good, and ran alright, just at a lower detail.
 
oh, look, i found your problem!! "Sys 1: pentium 4 2.8E" lol, j/k... if you want a high 3dmark score, get an ATI card for it uses directX, but if you want to run doom3 good, get a 6800.

On average the 6800GT stock gets 1000-1500 points higher than a x800pro stock in 3dmark03.
 
my 5900xt gets 6000 easy.... then again after a few mods and flashes... I'm gonna see if I hit 6500 with it hopefully

What in the world are u talkin about. If you can run 3dmark u use directX.

dude, i was talking about 3dmark, u know how the engine uses directx? :rolleyes:

got any links to this 1000 point lead? not saying you're lying, just haven't really seen that anywhere. highest 6800gt mark i see is 13,607, highest X800 pro mark i see is 15,234. and uhh, i didn't say anything about "stock" because i'm a big fan of the ability to overclock.
